We researched 3 but only visited one and pretty much decided on the spot that we wanted to send DS there. My niece had attended there for 3 years so we knew it was a great program. We would have liked to see more but registration opened in December (what?!) so most places were full.

I looked at a montessori one which I really wanted him to go to, but ultimately kept him in the same preschool where he's currently going to a mommy and me class. It was literally 1/6 the price of montessori and I think the transition will be easier, since he's already going there and will have the same teachers.

I went to an event where 10-12 preschools were featured and local parents spoke about their experiences. I checked out the three I liked after that.

@stargal: we only officially looked at one but our church also has a preschool and I didn't feel like I needed to tour it. We've been going to a "toddler gym" free program at the preschool we chose and really liked it, liked the director and the preschool came highly recommended from an early childhood professional so that's all we needed to feel comfortable.

We looked at 2. The second was an absolute perfect fit and we didn't need to look any further.

I actually just toured a montessori school yesterday and decided on the spot that's where he'll go. It's not only a great education system but the school is in a national park with an amazing picturesque setting. It's also on our street about 30 seconds from our house, lol!

We looked at two. One was a Montessori style preschool that was everything I thought I wanted, and I was really happy visiting it. But then I went to check out the preschool attached to the primary school at the end of our street, and I loved that one more. It was everything I thought I didn't want in a preschool (more structured, albeit still with loads of free play time), but it was so well organised with coherent themes running throughout, and the teacher was amazing - I was sold within minutes. DD also thrives on routine and structure, she gets overwhelmed when there is too much 'chaos' (using the term loosely to describe less structured settings), so I think the more structured setting will be better for her.
We could have continued looking at other schools, but it was one of those things where I thought I knew what I wanted for her, but as soon as I walked into the one preschool, I just knew it was perfect, even if it was nothing like what I had been expecting to like. Kind of like wedding dress shopping, when it's the one, you just know it!

2. The first one is we visited is the one closest to our house, but I ended up not liking it. I had a hard time with this because prior to the visit, I imagined my kids going there and it's one of the reasons why we bought our house.
Thankfully there's another one not so far away and I knew immediately. The feeling I got was so much nicer and it was much nicer. It's also smaller, which I love.

We visited 2. The first one was fine but the second one was perfect and M is already doing a parent & child class there so I think the transition will be easier.

We down selected our list down to top 2. Found out from my cousin that she's been sending her kids (older) since they were DS' age to our #1 choice! We'll be visiting soon and DS will be starting in May hopefully!

We looked at 3 before deciding for DS and then 1 more with DD. We also asked neighbors, coworkers and friends where they sent their LO's and what their opinions were.

We looked at one together and DH checked out one when I was at work.

We researched a few in addition to LO going to a MMO program that she could just continue next year. We only ended up touring one based on it being the best fit as far as price, location, and hours. Plus I had heard how great and caring the teachers were, which my LO needs because she's a shy, sensitive child. LO ended up absolutely loving it as did we so we made up our minds that day.

Thanks everyone, we have narrowed.it down to three after calling a bunch of places. Gping.on some tours now!

Visited 2, researched 8. Waitlisted at the one closest to us but I ended up choosing the one that will require a bus ride because the facility is better, has better reviews, and is part of the universal pre-k program.

A few, and struggled to find one that was play-focused and not academic. We found a Reggio one that I think is going to be a great fit.

I researched less than 10 but visited 2. I had a good feeling of one over the other.

We are already involved with the waldorf school where we had planned yo send her, but my husband got a job that will put us a little too far to commute. We looked at one in the new area and it was amazing and a great fit for us. So happy to have found it!
