DD2 just went back to daycare yesterday after having Hand Foot and Mouth and was out for 3 days + 2 days for the weekend. This morning DD1 woke up with a 101.9 fever. She is in great spirits so I'm hoping she doesn't have HFM. 
She's already gotten it twice before....what are the chances that every time, she's exposed to a different strand of HFM?!?!

I don't know. LO1 definitely had it once with all the classic symptoms. About a month ago she had something with sores in her mouth. It presented like strep but strep was negative. The pediatrian said it was HFM. DS was sick at the same time but I didn't take him in. He didn't have sores but his nails are all gross now. DH has it now.

Knock on wood, neither of my kids (3.5 and 5 months) have had it despite both of them being in day care full time and having had kids in each of their classes have it.

Neither kids got it. But Charlie had rsv and was sick pretty much for 2 years. Olive had a better immune system from being exposed to Charlie. They both had roseala, but no HFM!

DS (3.5) had it 4 times Three cases were relatively minor, one was absolutely awful. He spent a week in the PICU with RSV at 5 months old and I still say the HFM he had at 20 months was a worse experience.
DD (11 months) hasn't had it yet, but I know we're heading into that season

Once for each of them. DD1 is almost 5 so I hope she's in the clear. I never hear of this being a school aged thing.
DD2 had it at 9 months and it was awful - I really hope she doesn't get it again, she has a lot of daycare ahead of her.

LO1 never got it, and LO2 only had it once. I was happily surprised that LO1 didn't contract it from LO2.

@MamaG: so the NP at our pediatrician just told us today the other day she saw a preteen with HFM.

DS1 - one time, very mild
DS2 - first time was rough, but each time since has gotten more and more mild.

Mine is almost 3 and she's had it twice now, both times mild/medium, not awful thankfully. Her mouth usually gets the worst of it.

UGH! This is my biggest fear -- of all of the sicknesses LO (and I) have had, this was the worst. Both he and I were so sick and miserable the time he had it, I am so afraid of getting it again. I'm sorry

3x for LO1 (argh). each were mild to moderate. we shall see for LO2.
