Probably 4-5/year. 1 to the Philippines to visit Mr. Bee's parents, 2 to California to visit my parents, and then 1-2 more within driving distance. I would travel much more often if I could!

Maybe 4-5? We just came back from a week at my ILs, but also took a mini kid-free trip during that time. We have one for sure scheduled in May/June and I imagine we will take at least 2 more trips, probably shorter ones, before the end of the year.

ETA: we make it a priority because that's what we enjoy doing. We also have 2 incomes and no debt (other than rent). In addition, my husband gets quite a lot of vacation time and I am self-employed, so we a lot of flexibility.

We take 3 family trips and I do 1-2 solo trips with my friends.

We travel pretty often throughout the year – usually 3-4 larger trips (flight involved) and a few weekends away within driving distance.

How do we make it a priority? Well, we didn’t have kids until we were in our 30’s/40’s and have 2 FT incomes plus some freelancing gigs for both of us – that’s the biggest differentiator. If we went to 1 income we would have to cut out most of the travel, if we had had kids before we were pretty well established in careers and had been able to pay off chunks of existing debts (i.e., early to mid-20’s), we wouldn’t have the extra money to travel as much. We also prioritize travel now over some other expenditures, and we utilize cc points and other rewards offset some travel expenses (mainly airfare).

4-5x a year. I'd rather travel than have things, so we make it a priority. We tend to take a couple small trips and one big trip each year.

It depends. I count weekend driving trips in the mix, now that we have an electric car with free charging, my husband is all about the road trips. We took one this month, will take another in April and probably another in May.

One way I make it happen without breaking the bank is to limit eating out to one meal a day. I pack food for breakfast always and depending on where we are, will pack stuff for lunch/dinner or find a grocery store at our destination.

My husband also always seems to find the best deals on hotel rooms.

We take 2 bigger trips a year and sometimes smaller ones. This year I think will just be 2 - Florida was in February, Cape Cod in June. Then we have LO2 coming in August.

Travel is kind of a medium priority for us I guess. We'd love to do more, but we have a lot of financial commitments that come first. It kind of freaks me out to spend thousands on a trip too. I want to plan something for our 5 year anniversary next year, but I keep getting a mental block when I add up all the expenses for the things I'm interested in.

1-2. The goal would be 1 vacation with dh's family, which lucky for us, they pay for a good portion of. And then one trip out to California to visit my family.

Probably 3-5 a year. A couple larger vacations and then a couple weekends away.

Neither of our families live close, so we have to visit them. In the last year, we went to Canada to see DHs family twice and Georgia/Virginia to see my family twice. Work stuff is either paid for by work or a tax write off, but I had one conference and DH had a couple of work trips. We had several weddings this past year we had to fly for. And we try to squeeze in at least 2 family vacation per year. The last weekend of April we are spending a week at the beach.

As far as priorities...we want to see our families/friends, so we just plan on spending that money. There are definitely some years I wish we could cut back because we spend so much $$. We drive older cars, live below our means in the housing budget category, both work full time and don't have house cleaners and don't eat out much. That kind of thing.

We also spend money to fly our parents here when we need extra help: for example, my husband has a week long trip to London coming up for work, and I leave for work at 6:45 am and our babysitter doesn't come till 8am. So we are paying to fly my mom in to help for that week while DH is gone. =(

@Mrs. Sunshine: It's definitely getting easier the older she gets! She loves to fly now. We don't go on too many beach vacations because she doesn't sit still and chasing her in the sand is not relaxing or fun at all. We love going places where we can just strap her into the stroller and explore.

we'll sometimes do a lake weekend in the summer and then 2-3 weekend trips to kansas city (to visit friends, we're in stl). and we're planning to do one big vacay over xmas break this year - so maybe like 5 total?

edit: i just read the part about work travel.. hmm.. maybe add another 5 to that list just for me?

Probably about 4-6 year - 1-2 long weekend trips with LO, 1 long weekend alone, 1 longer trip alone, and 1-2 weekend trips to stay with family/friends (I don't include going to our hometown which we do 7-8x a year - it's 2 hours away, but definitely NOT a vacation).

It's been hard to prioritize now that I'm pregnant, and extra related expense, but normally it just is a priority. It makes us feel like our "old selves" and is important for our sanity. We definitely take advantage of staying with friends/family or at modest hotels to make it affordable, and lots of road trips. Fly once a year max.

Probably 1-2. We usually go to Florida with my in-laws once and (pre baby #2) tried to go somewhere sort of close for a long weekend.

1 big trip to the beach during the summer (with the whole family), and 4-5 small, weekend trips to D's aunt's cabin on the Chesapeake Bay (2.5 hours away). I would love to be able to take a trip with just D, but for now family visits use the bulk of my vacation time.

work: 0 (if anything, I'll have a day trip)

family vacay: 1 (and we only go to the shore, which is an hour away)

Unfortunately, travel is just not a priority right now. It's fun, but so $$$!

I usually do 1 work trip of ~4 nights and 1 work trip of 1 night per year.

We do 1-2 big (plane ride) vacations per year.

We do 1-2 weekend trips per month with more in the summer (both sets of grandparents, aunts/uncles, friends, camping, etc.)

We didn't do as many weekend trips for the first couple months after my son was born, but now that he's six months, we're up to about 1 per month and that will probably stay the same or increase.

Thus far, we've taken baby on all trips (2 plane trips, ~8 weekend trips) except my work trip. We're planning a weekend by ourselves in the next couple months!

Maybe 10? We usually drive to NYC 1x per year, fly to Florida 2x per year, take a family trip somewhere warm in the winter 1x per year, fly to California 1x per year and then we have 3 out of town weddings and a trip to visit friends this year. That's what happens when the vast majority of your friends and family live far far away

We prioritize travel because we kind of have to, our families live in FL and CA and we live in MA so there isn't a choice on a lot of it.

No kids yet but we'd aim for 1 trip/getaway with flight a year (alternating family by couple). Weekend driving trips probably 4 times a year, mostly for special occasions or summer roadtrps).
