Just curious. How much are short ribs per lb where you live?
I don't cook them often but I remember them being $$$!

We get ours from costco and I think they're pricey, 6.99 or 7.99/lb. we love them though, either grilled or stewed.

The price for short ribs is all over the place! I've seen 3.99-8.99/lb at the same store. I think it just depends on supply.

it depends where you buy them. they are cheaper at korean markets. at our local market where it's grass fed organic, it's definitely well over $10/pound.

@chopsuey: I've gotta check out the H-mart near me....I live Asian grocery stores!

It depends. I usually buy them every time I see them for 7.99/lb but usually they're like 9.99/lb.
They always go on sale at Christmas, New Year and Easter times because families get together for dinners.

oh. derp. you meant beef!
I got some pork short ribs for $5.99. Just checked my freezer and the sliced beef short ribs I got were $9.49/lb!

@locavore_mama: yea, and a lot of the poundage is for the bone, not for actual meat… so what you really get to eat in the end is not all that much!

They are pricey. Here it is about $8/lb.
Here is a tip...if you want to make Korean style braised ribs (galbijjim) use a beef shoulder roast. So much cheaper and the taste is the same. I braised it for double the amount of time but at least I'm not paying for bones!

@mediagirl: now we know! I'd much rather throw a nice rib eye on the grill for that price.
@Freckles: great tip!!

Hm..
The short ribs at my local chain grocer were like 4.29 a lb today. However, I live in TX. Also, they looked like mostly bone. I get my good short ribs from H mart and they always me cringe at the price.

@blackbird: Can you share that recipe?! Thawing some short ribs out now and have NO clue what to do with them!
