Just got a quote and I'm surprised. $$! How much did you pay for a one hour or so session with you and baby? Prints, rights, everything? My son is 6 months old.

We are doing a 1 hour session in October...comes with 25 digital files and unlimited outfit changes. On location at a park...$125...

@Mrs D: wow that seems crazy cheap!
I paid $300 for a an outdoor fall session with digital rights, no prints included. This was a special discount, too.

There are so many price points where I live...I have seen as cheap as $50 and as much as $500 for the sitting fee alone...
This photographer is middle of the road...takes nice pictures but not the best...
Next summer we are using a better photographer for big family pictures...he is $350/hr and it will likely be $500 for all rights....

I found someone who does it for $250 and its on the low end. Some of the photographers I contacted were $1000+ which was out of our budget!

@pachamama: The price will really vary depending on the type of shoot and whether its in a studio or at some other location.

We have 2 photographers we use and have only done mini sessions because that meets our needs so that's what the pricing below is for.
Better photog: $250
Good photog: $100-125
15-minute sessions, no prints, between 5-10 edited shots

There is such a huge range even where we live which is a low col area. We used a local mama who works FT and does photography on the side. We also did mini sessions because our two year old can't handle a long session. That saved us a lot of money.

We've used several photographers with a wide range of prices. For a decent length session with all digital files included, we've paid anywhere from $250 to $1k. We're in the Boston area. The $250 one was probably half the length and included 1/3 the photos as the $1k one, and the photos were not as good (but I still liked them).

NB I paid $500 for session fee and some printed pics - no digital images
We just did a family shoot in the fall - 15 mins, $175 and you got 10 digital images - this was perfect!

We've used the same woman 3x now who is in the early stages of her photography business and we have been very happy. Most recently we paid $200 for a one hour session and the rights to all the edited photos. We have paid more for newborn photos with our wedding photographer and they were slightly better but not worth the extra money, IMO.

$300 for a very-good-but-not-amazing photographer. (1 hr, 15 edited shots, no prints)

We have one scheduled in the fall - family and individual pictures of girls. $150 with rights to edited pictures. I will say that is a "friend" discount, I think her normal price is $175 which is still reasonable.
I plan on doing family and then changing clothes for them for individual/sibling pictures.
No prints included.

I have found a great option for about $75. It's done as a fundraiser for the nature center where my son attends camp and preschool. It's a half hour and we get one digital file and 8x12 print out of it, with the option to purchase other files. It's perfect because I really only need one good shot per year.

Love our photographer... she's $100 for an hour with print release on all pictures.

$200 at our home for approximately 1 hour, around 120 digital photos that we printed ourselves.

$400-500 is pretty standard around here. I'm hiring a film photographer for $800 for our anniversary session- but she's one of the top photographers in our region.
Some that sell prints only can run 1-2k for newborn photos.

Just did a 1 hour session w two kids for $275 w photo rights. She sent us 100 files!
I spent $450 for our newborn / fam shoot last year. And got 10 files.
I've spent in previous years $2-300 for a similar type shoot w photo rights included.

My photographer is wonderful, he did our wedding (and my sister's) but he's also the most in demand in our area. He quoted me $425 - 1 hour, all rights, USB of all images. Seems like a lot of money!

My daughters 1 year photo shoot (just her in the studio) will be $125 (with rights to the pictures) and that's because I had booked it when I did the newborn pics. We're doing a mini shoot with the same woman for Christmas and it's $150 for a 30 minute shoot outside with a Christmas set up and I think we get at least 10 images.

$150 - all rights and digitals. No prints. There was no limitations on the sessions, but they were almost 2 hours, three different outfits, at our home (all over the home and outside). There are definitely more expensive options, but we love our photog!

$250 covers the session free and all digital images - about 15-20 images

$275 for the shoot and all digital files. Like, every single pic she took, edited and uploaded to me. We order prints ourselves.

We do mini shoots and they are $150 for half an hour. She gives us access to about 40 edited photos (watermarked) and we get to choose 12 for download, additional ones are $10 each.

@agold: of course! I used Jen Perez Photography. It's $99 for a mini session with 3 edited images and then you can pay an additional $100 for all the images (edited) and she told me that ranges from 30-50.

@Ginabean3: Thank you. Great to know. I have one local girl that I like to use for photography. She's fairly new but a great price. However, anyone more professional that I've looked into seems to charge something like a $250-$400 session fee, plus extra for copies of pictures and upwards of $600 if you want the digital file. Ugh. That's so much money.

@MrsKerch: Walled you! I assume you wanted the women we are using this fall for $125....but if you want the more pricey photographers name I will happily share that as well.
