We didn't really plan anything before conceiving our LO. If we have a second we've talked about who would have what room, child care arrangements, my work situation, etc.

@DigAPony: I am an obsessive planner too! I know that nothing will go according to plan, but it's fun to dream, isn't it?! At least you are going to be trying in 2012... It's probably going to be 2014 for us!

I have investigated pretty much anything there is to investigate, from how I want to prepare for conception (going organic, for example) to birth plans (I know where I want to give birth, what classes I want to take, what interventions I don't want) to gear (just take a look at my Pinterest) to parenting (I have a Goodreads list of parenting books that is probably 40 books long at this point). We also have names, though they change.

The biggest thing I don't have figured out is how we will afford it, and if I will work or not. I have a financial plan that I'd like to get to a certain point with before we start trying, but that point is some years off and I don't know if we'll wait that long!

Also, we know we want to do an awesome trip, probably to Europe, pre-baby, and we haven't really planned that other than talking about it loosely, so I should get on that rather than looking up preschools, huh?!

@daniellemybell and @digapony - I am also an obsessive planner. Ii have 4 separate pinterest boards just for future babies - a clothing one, a "fun stuff" one, a nursery one, and a parenting one. I've researched a lot of stuff. We've discussed names that we like, but nothing that we've settled on as a final list of options. Sometimes I feel a bit silly, and I've definitely gotten people saying "I've seen your pins, are you pregnant?!" Cuz there's THAT MUCH stuff! Ha ha.

Another obsessive planner here!

We have picked out a for sure name for a boy, tentative name for a girl. I have nursery boards on Pinterest for a girl and boy. I know what hospital I'm giving birth at (it's the one my gyno is associated with. They just did a huge renovation of the maternity wing that's super nice.). I've bought one piece of clothing(I limited myself to one!). My DH and I have discussed what we are going to do/not do for different discipline and such. I even know what kind of baby showers I want! Haha.

Our LO was a surprise and definitely added a little excitement into our world...we moved up our wedding date, cancelled our adventurous honeymoon and got ready for a baby. Everything went well but baby #2 will hopefully be planned!!!

Hubs and I haven't talked about #2 yet but in my own mind, I already know what his/her name will be and will fight to the death for it since hubs got his way with naming our LO. Other than that...We haven't discussed. LOL.

we have names picked out (two boy & two girl), and i've started a private amazon wish list (i don't have my own pinterest, maybe i should make one... can everyone see everything you pin or can you set them to private? i don't want people to find my baby pins!) to keep track of things i hear about that i want to remember for later. i like to look online at houses to rent, as we are hoping to move out of our apartment one i get pregnant. i've also watched a bunch of youtube videos about cloth diapers and think it's something i'd like to try.

We have a LO on the way now, but before we also planned out quite a bit. I knew which OBGYN I would use and made a pre-TTC appointment, which hospital I wanted to deliver at, we decided on which room we would use as the nursery, and started to discuss names (only had a boy narrowed down.)

We also talked a little about parenting styles and what not. Luckily we were raised pretty similar, and both want to follow in our parent's footsteps, so that was easy.

We didn't plan much. My husband didn't really want to talk about babies until there was one in my belly. The only planning we did was go off bc, start temping and have wild monkey sex when I was fertile.

@bluestriped bee: lol me too! I have sooo many different things on my kids board, I am just starting to make new boards and organize it.

Before we got pregnant with LO, we didn't do TOO much planning simply because it only took 4 cycles. But we had a bunch of names we liked (though none of them made it lol), we knew where I would give birth and what kind of birth I wanted and we had discussed our parenting style even before marriage to make sure we agreed.

Most of the planning happened after I got pregnant, however - LO is only 3 months old and I'm already planning for the next one hahah!! I know what the nursery will be if it's a girl, aqua with dandelions/flowers, we have a bunch of names we like and we know that we will wait until I get my bachelors before trying for #2. This will probably be 2-3 years from now.

@dc yoga bee: I did that too, but people still found me. I had used my real name anyway. (sighs) oh well. People can speculate all they want, I don't really care.

I am such a planner too and this is hard waiting to get PG, much like when I was waiting to get engaged. I have planned a general budget for after a baby is born, researched daycare options, considered how much leave I could take, and definitely planned where the nursery will be and done some browsing for furniture and decor. We have discussed names and DH keeps saying "whatever you want". While it sounds great to be able to make the ultimate decision, I need his help! Hopefully once we are actually expecting a LO, he'll get a little more involved in choosing a name.

We have a word document with our baby name list, already have lots of pregnancy/baby/parenting books (but that's also because I'm a doula), an amazon wishlist with all our extensively researched baby gear, parenting decisions discussed, decided, and written down.
We're VERY prepared (read: obsessed). I hope this is our cycle!
