Getting minor alterations to a bridesmaid dress-- taking the bust in a little bit and shortening the straps-- and it's costing $65. Bleh. But I went someplace in walking distance in the city so I know I'm paying for that convenience. But, that's high, right?
I've been really lucky that I haven't really needed alterations on BM dresses thus far so I guess I'm still ahead.

My mom does mine. Otherwise it would probably cost about $50. I'm short so I ALWAYS need it taken up.

Not all that high given the area you live. My bridesmaids paid about $20 for a hem, $20 to be taken in, another $10 to fix a boning issue (added a piece), and $10 to steam if needed. This was a lady working out of her home who had AMAZING prices compared to other places I looked.

I think I paid $70 for the last wedding I was in. All I had done was a hem and had the straps shortened!

Ugh, it's such a racket!I think part of my problem is I only paid $80 for my WEDDING dress alterations, but she worked from home and was pretty spacy, plus she didn't press it, so I had to pay $100 for that anyway. I guess I feel better that I'm not being ripped off at least.

The last time I did this, it was $60 I think! Not cheap! But I trust that place and spent the $ since I would not want anyone to mess up an already expensive bridesmaid dress!

$189. And the darn dress only costs $198. She thought she was "saving us money," and everyone's dress came back seriously screwed up. Never.again.

Oh, and the really annoying part is, I probably wouldn't even need alterations if I had ordered my regular size. I got measured about 2 months PP and just ordered the size I was then, since I obviously would rather get it taken in than risk it being too small, but have lost a fair amount of weight since then. Oh well.

@Foodnerd81: I was measured a few months PP for my brothers wedding and by the time the wedding rolled around a years yet, my dress was so big I could fit Chloe in it with me. Zipped. With room to spare. I was beyond pissed because they made me pay extra for plus-size.
I think she took in something ridiculous like 14" and I paid around $80.

@Mrs. Jump Rope: Oh wow! No, this isn't that bad! It's just one size too big. Although I'm still paying almost as much as you did, but I didn't have to pay extra for plus size at least.

I paid $120 for alterations on a $200 dress 
plus I had to pay an extra $50 because the size I "needed" based on my measurements was a plus size.
My wedding dress fit perfectly off the rack and I only needed to add a bustle which was $30.

I want to say it was like $75 or something and yeah, i didnt need much done to it. So kind of a ripoff. Oh well.

I've been lucky that I never need alterations except for a hem which my mom could do. But one of my BMs rewore a dress from when she was 8 months pregnant. She took it to an independent seamstress and it cost her a whopping $10 to take it down a few sizes! And it was done in a about and hour so she just went to lunch and came back to pick it up!

I hate BM dress alterations. They're so ridiculous. I had to sign a waiver acknowledging that I wasn't ordering the (massive) size they said I needed. Considering I had tried one on in store and it fit just fine....I think i was ok only going one size up, not two. I usually just deal with the ill fit, though.
I did have a really nice dress taken in and shortened and it was only $30. Could've easily been a BM dress.

I wore a bridesmaid dress to my brother's wedding and needed the bust taken in. I nearly fell over when the woman only charged me $6! I was expecting to add a zero to that! But this was also in small town USA. I had a floor length ball gown hemmed last year and it cost €30.

i think mine have ranged from $40 -100? only once I paid $100 as it was my first time being a BM and i did it in store, i didn't think to take it somewhere cheaper.

Anywhere between $50-$100 depending on what needed to be done. Usually I have to insist on a smaller size or they'll order me 2 dress sizes too big and charge me an arm and a leg for the alterations. Incredibly annoying!

For me I always need a hem done and that would be at least $30-40 I think so $65 doesn't seem that bad if there is also other additional work to be done.

Probably I was the worst bridesmaid ever but I once just bought a cheap padded bra and some safety pins instead of bothering with bust and strap alterations. But I was also fresh out of college, so maybe that excuses it?
