Our monthly water bill is between 35 and 40 for two people and a dog living in our house.

@MrsBrewer: we pay about that...but it includes lots of other things like trash pick up (which is about 50% of our bill), and I am sure that this new apartment company that has decided to water the grass 5 days a week is charging us for that too.

We have a neighborhood well but we pay by the gallon. Ours was around $20/month when it was just the two of us. With LO its up to about $35. We don't water our lawn or wash our cars that often either.

Wow, I thought ours was cheap. We pay between $70 and $80/month. That includes city trash pickup and sewer.

@MrsBrewer: Are you metered? Most water districts have free auditors that will come to your house if you request it and are metered. They can check to make sure you don't have any leaks and give you suggestions on how to reduce your usage.

We pay $250/quarter for water and sewer; we are not metered (yet) so our bill would probably be a little higher if we were on the meter rate instead of the flat rate we pay now. Trash is a separate entity, and that bill is $150/quarter.

@MrsBrewer: If you're paying for usage, you're metered. Definitely call and ask what kinds of water conservation programs they have available. Water auditing is very common as are programs like rebates for low flow toilets/high efficiency appliances, turf buy back programs, etc..

@MrsBrewer: Yeah, older toilets can use 5 or so gallons per flush, and if you're flushing twice each time, it might be taking upwards of 10 gallons per visit! And if it's old and is leaking or running, it can go through 100 or more gallons a day. Definitely you'll want to get that checked out.

@MrsBrewer: Plus you might qualify for rebates if you install a low flow toilet, low flow faucets/showerheads, etc... Tell your husband you'll MAKE money on the deal and enjoy your new bathroom, lol!

We rent and our landlord pays for it. You can always look into getting aerators for your faucets, letting the yellow mellow (though you might want to throw toilet paper away instead of flushing it then). Do you have a dishwasher? Newer ones use less water than washing by hand. And don't forget to turn off the water when you're doing dishes/brushing your teeth!

Ours has been consistently around $54-$56/month. It includes, sewer and trash pickup also. However, we have a pool that requires filling every 3-4 days during the summer and we do a TON of laundry sans kiddos.

I don't think we pay for water... I'm pretty sure it's included in our rent?

We don't pay very much, but that's for a two-bedroom, two-bathroom apartment.

I live in a condo townhouse, and I pay about $60-$70 a quarter. I actually need to pay that bill....
