My mom always pays an insane amount for her bird but it's organic and huge. DH's company gave us a coupon of $25 off of a turkey and I'm wondering if it will cover the cost of the turkey or not? We're doing a small T-day meal with just the 4 of us (DH, LO's and I).

I have paid $100 for a turkey, but that was because I was living abroad and it had to be custom ordered from the butcher shop!
I paid $75 this year for a 15lb turducken including shipping.

We got a fresh turkey from a local farm. It cost over $70. But we are supporting local farmers.

I think my mom pays around $30 but that's for a huge turkey...we live in MI if that makes a difference.

We preordered a farm fresh turkey from Sprouts. It's $1.49/lb and we are getting a 16-pounder.

I used to work at a grocery store and 25 will definitely buy a turkey. You just have to get a smaller turkey, maybe 15/16 lbs? (:

for 4 people I would just get a turkey breast. They usually go on sale for about $1 per lb around here - so yes $25 would be enough

We usually pay about $80 for a 16-18 lb fresh, never frozen, hormone free, free range turkey from a local farm.
It's super expensive but gosh darn it is it worth it!
We make turkey a few times a year and the fresh bird is SO much better than the store birds. Our store birds go down to 29cts a lb!@Mamaof2: I lurve turkey so even for DH and I we get a whole turkey and eat the dark meat then use the breast meat for sandwiches the next day!

I order a free range bird from Whole Foods - it's $2.49/pound, so will likely be about $60 this year.
You need about 2 lbs./person, and then I always double or triple that so we have plenty of leftovers. For four people, this year I ordered a 22-24 lb. bird.
