This includes everything at the supermarket, BJs/Sams Club/Costco, etc?
So ie organic milk, toilet paper, veggies, razors, etc
How many do you have in your household? Are you buying organic?
Just roughly.

We try to spend less then $100 at the regular grocery store per week but then we have another $100-$200 trip at Costco.
What helped us get our Costco bill down was to do a semi-annual trip for all the paper goods, razors, etc. I don't like to have that extra $20-$50 tacked on each month, I just like to see my grocery bill per month.

We're spending a lot less now that we have a garden, but in the winter we were doing about $100 at the grocery store and $100 at Costco per week. That covers everything, though (food, cleaning supplies, household supplies, beauty/health, diapers/kids' stuff, dog food/pet supplies, etc...).

On a normal week (not recently because I've been too tired and nauseous to cook) I will spend $60 for two adults and a toddler. We buy some organic, but not everything.

$75 or so at grocery per week. Organic meats and some produce, all baby's foods are organic. But most of ours is not.
I don't know about household things..once a month or so. So tack on another $15/week for an estimate?
About $90-100/week for all?

The goal is $100 or less each week. I do 1 trip to Costco every month, which is always more than $100, but because I often spend less than that other weeks it evens out fairly well. We have 3 family members and we mostly buy non-organic items.

DH thinks we're much closer to $200 a week but that includes BJs for all household items and all snacks for LO off Amazon, etc. And we eat much more than the average person and it's food for lunches as well.
I just feel we can do better than that as I'm rearranging our budget. So trying to think of what is a reasonable number to take that down to/aim for.

$150 right now, cause DS is home from school and is getting his snacks and lunches at home. Normally, during the school year this is about $100.

I have no idea, probably a lot because I figure organic foods are an investment in our health, and it's still cheaper than eating out!

I know I can do better, a lot of the high spend is because I impulse shop and don't meal plan, but that is all changing this week!
honeydew / 7687 posts
Each week we spend betwen 60-80. I buy mostly organic produce; we buy meat in bulk... so probably around 100$ if meat was factored in weekly. I do make a lot at home, but we eat a ton of produce that is $$. We've basically stopped eating out since we moved, which helps.

On average, we spend a little over a $100 a week. We go to Costco once a week and the grocery store to pick up any small ingredients we need to make dinners. We buy all our fruit at Costco (DH eats an insane amount of fruit every week like just this past sunday we bought 2 cases of apples, 1 case of peaches, 1 watermelon & 2.5 lbs of blueberries this will all be consumed in one week). It's just DH and I eating all the food-DS eats minimal amount. We don't buy a lot of organic. Just organic milk.

Around $100 for weekly groceries, more if I am stocking up our pantry. We buy a lot of organic. I'll vote $100-$150.

150-200, with formula (we spend 60/week on 2 cans, one for home & 1 for daycare) Actual food I can keep usually around 100 a week!

We hover around $100, but we don't exclusively buy organic (or even really seek it out). Most of our grocery store money is for produce, with a few boxed/canned items. We get our meat in bulk from a local ranch which lasts a few months (sometime we supplement with other meat that's on sale). Most of our household items come from Costco, as well as "shelf" items like oatmeal, rice, granola bars, etc. We do Costco 2x month.
Our son doesn't eat too much right now, but we plan on having him eat what we're eating & hopefully won't add too much to the total line. My cousin lived with us for about 8 months and I grocery shopped with her. It was amazing to see the difference in the bill when you're not shopping the sales/buying mostly brand name convenience food!

Around $75 a week, this differs week to week depending on what we need.

Our budget was $100, which I stuck to pretty well ($5 over or under usually.) Butttttttt now that I'm a pregnant velocoraptor we upped it to $120 because OMG HUNGER. I require way more food, haha! I feel like it will stay there because of baby items we'll need. If it was just me it would be MUCH lower though, DH is a big dude AND a chef so he requires a lot of food.

We do about $150/ week for 4 of us. Of we didn't do so much organic, it would be less... But all of our milk, meat and fruit is organic. We can do it so cheaply because my parents raise most of our meat.

About $75, closer to $100 if I need to stock up on pantry items.
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
For those that are closer or even under $100 are you not counting household items such as tp, razors, toothpaste, napkins, etc?
honeydew / 7444 posts
On average, about $200. I find that the more trips we make, the higher our bill is for the week. We are a household of 3, and i swear LO sometimes has the appetite of an adult.
Way back when we didn't have a formal budget, we always estimated our food spending to be $400 a month. When i finally decided to itemize our spending, we were shocked to see that it was so much more.
We mainly buy organic berries (that range from $5-6/pint), eggs, milk, chicken (for LO), and spinach. We also bought into a CSA that starts in July. Yay!

@Mrs. Jacks: So jealous that you get your meat from your parents. We thought about buying part of a cow, but we don't eat that much meat to justify it. We did consider buying freezer packs from a local butcher though.

3 people and we spend about $200. I buy almost all organic and all grassfed/organic beef, wild fish, etc. we eat paleo mostly so we don't ever really buy pantry items. I'm going to try and cut costs by shopping for produce at the farmers market
pineapple / 12526 posts
@regberadaisy: Yes, that includes everything except DH's razors (which cost about $35 a month) because he buys those himself. Sometimes it varies, but we're normally in the ballpark of around $400/month, the high side being $500 on occasion, depending on what needs to be replenished in the house.
GOLD / papaya / 10206 posts
We budget $200/week for groceries and as long as we're careful we can totally do it.
kiwi / 613 posts
We always end up spending around $150/week. No matter how much I try, we just can't get it lower than that. We always get organic milk but everything else is regular food/fruit/meat.
pomegranate / 3872 posts
I buy mostly organic and we spend about $220/week. I would usually say less but when I add in paper products and other stuff it's definitely higher. And only one of us is a meat eater!
grapefruit / 4213 posts
The weeks we stock up on meat (to freeze) we go over $100. Otherwise we average about $100/week for just DH and I.
blogger / pineapple / 12381 posts
@Freckles: it's very awesome. This year we did half a pig and now they are raising steer. We don't eat a ton of meat, so a little goes a long way!
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
We don't shop every week but divided up about $100 a week. We don't buy a lot of organic, but a couple things.
coconut / 8305 posts
I buy some organic & grassfed (mainly the dirty dozen) along with dairy alternatives and spend between 90-135 a week. That includes non-food items too. I only buy for breakfast & dinner though, lunch is either leftovers or sandwiches (G would live off of pb&j if I let him).
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21628 posts
@regberadaisy: we include cleaning supplies, tp, paper towels.
bananas / 9357 posts
@regberadaisy: yeah, I included household things. We buy those at Costco. We always end up with one bigger Costco trip per month. We don't always have to stock up on the same things every month.
pear / 1570 posts
we hover around $150 sometimes more depending on what we need.
we do have some special diet needs so there are items that i buy that are just spendy. dirty dozen organic and the rest is a mix. we buy grass fed when we can.
pear / 1998 posts
Between $80-$100 for two adults for just groceries. We try to buy as much local/organic/free range stuff as possible and shop at Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and the local farmer's market once a week. To keep costs as low as we can we meal plan, eat at least one vegetarian meal a week, and eat leftovers for the following day's lunch. We eat out for dinner or visit with friends on Saturday. If we are hosting, we usually have to make an additional trip.
We get our household items and toiletries from Target. It would really only need to be once a month, but lets face it, I'm there (at least) weekly too.
kiwi / 543 posts
We spend around $150-200 a week for the 4 of us who eat (the 5th is breastfed). Some weeks it's more, especially if I go to the gluten free bakery - that's almost as bad as a Costco trip lol
