I don't drink coffee. On alcohol hubs and I always open a tab and then just run our card at the end of the night and tip 20% on the total.

I usually give 1 or 2$

Coffee? It depends where I go. There is a local place I love, I know the owner and she is the sweetest thing ever. She hires the best employees ever, I ALWAYS tip them. Like you, @mrbee, I tip leftover change if I pay with cash. For at $3 drink, i probably tip $1 and any extra change.

For alcohol - 20%.

I drink my coffee at home, but when I go to the bar it depends on what type of drink I order. If I order a bottle of beer I usually tip $1 which is more than 20%. Pretty much everything else I leave $2, especially for a mixed drink that required more than just pouring liquid into a glass.

I tip $1 for a drink under $5, $2 for a drinks $5-10 and usually $3 and up for anything more. The most I ever tipped was $20 at Starbucks because the people in line were so rude behind me and I felt bad for the baristas.

When I was a barista we found a roll of 20's in our tip jar! $180, I couldn't imagine tipping that much?! I probably would once in awhile if I was wealthy.

I don't tip for coffee at Starbucks. Call me rude, but when they are charging $5 for a cup of coffee...Eek.. But if I go to a small local coffee joint, then I will tip a buck or 2.

For alcohol, it's complicated For the first drink I always tip very well ($3-$4) if I'm drinking mix drinks. Normally I get their attention that way. Then when I am almost done with that drink I'm almost garunteed that they will give me another one immediately. No waiting/trying to get the bartenders attention. After that I will tip $1-$2 per drink
