How much do you tip your housekeeper? Ours comes every 2 weeks and I pay her $75. Not sure how much I should tip her for the holidays.

I don't normally tip. But I have 3 women who clean my house as a team, I'm giving them each $25.

I'd usually give $25 as a gift card or cash plus home made cookies. This year though we have a new woman who has only cleaned twice for us, I'm wondering if I should give her a gift as well.

I pay her $140 per cleaning so I tipped her that amount, kinda like an extra week's pay.

standard is extra week's pay. we pay $110 so that's what we'll give her.

We are tipping two weeks pay and a small gift. Granted, we have a small house so she only charges us $50 a week.

I was thinking of asking this same question. My situation is a little trickier... We have 2-3 women come every 2 weeks, but the woman I arrange the service with usually isn't here. Do I tip the ladies that are actually here, or a larger tip to the "boss" and assume she will distribute?

@Mrs.Someone: I would think to tip the ladies that actually come but I'm no expert.
I might just tip her $25. I'm going to be letting her go at the beginning of the year. I'm not very happy with the way she cleans and she's sooooo slow. She also annoys me and is super creepy when she watches me breastfeed.

@mrskc: Thanks for the suggestion! For your cleaning lady, if you're not happy with her service, then I don't think you should tip her. In my option, a tip is a thanks for a job well done.

@Mrs.Someone: yeah true. I guess I feel a little bad about letting her go.

@mrskc: Think of it as a business decision. If you do a good job, you get rewarded. If you don't, then you get fired... I know it sounds heartless, but she is running a business.

I told DH that some people tip their cleaning lady a week's pay and he thought that was CRAAAZY, haha.
Our lady comes once every 4 - 5 weeks and charges us $70. We've only been using her for a few months, so I paid her an even $100 when she came in last week.

@sweetchic: I tipped my housecleaner half of the amount I normally pay her. I didn't know that people consider it standard to pay a full week's pay but that just seemed like too much to me.
