I don't do many art projects with LO but I'd like to think I let him do what he wants. When he colors I let him use whatever colors he wants and draw however he wants... But like at T-ball class, I will show him which base to run to if he runs the wrong way. But the whole point of that class is to teach them the rules of the game so it seems appropriate. It isn't a creative sport.

I don't intervene. I let my son do his own thing, regardless of the outcome. He actually gets more annoyed when I hover!

With creative stuff, I don't intervene other than tell them not to color on the table/walls. I may suggest something if the older one asks for ideas, or help draw something specific or something difficult, but I mostly stay away since I want them to use their imaginations.

I do a lot of intervening, if you want to call it that! But I don't say "no, put the nose over here". But I think of these things like skills LO will need to eventually learn--so I work with her to improve her coloring by showing her how to make small strokes instead of scribbling all around the page, how to stay in the lines (as well as a 2 year old can), etc. Like, making a face is an actual skill--so yes, at some point I would say, "Where does a nose go? On top of the eye? (And Lo will say no!) and I will say, on the chin? (And she'll say no!) and then I say, "how about the middle?" and then she'll say yes.

I guess I figure...how else will she learn? That's the teacher in me though. We do puzzles together and for sure I don't just watch her try to do it herself (she gets super frustrated). I show her how to find the corner pieces, then the edge pieces, etc.

It's probably annoying for someone else to watch....(shrug). Lo learns a lot that way.
