We live in a very family friendly neighborhood with lots of kids. The street right behind us goes all out with decorating for Halloween so it attracts a big crowd. Last year was our first Halloween living here and we ran out of candy in about five minutes. I don't want to run out this year!
How much Halloween candy do you have to buy?

I'm not sure yet bc it'll be our first year at the new house. I think I might ask our neighbors what the situation is!

Despite the fact that we have never, not once, had trick or treaters at our apartment, DH still always buys a bag of candy. He pretends it's for just in case, but it's really 'just in case he wants some candy'.
We live in the city, and it's all apartments, so I'm not sure where the kids on our block go. The mall?

We buy enough to fill up a big bowl. Once it is out, we just turn out light off. Last year (the first year we were in our house and had trick or treaters) we ran out right as the kids stopped coming by so it was perfect.

@Foodnerd81: My brother and SIL live in a house but still have few kids around them. One year they actually dressed up and waited for kids to come to their door.... but nobody came 
My DH also gets a candy he likes so he can have the left overs. But around here there aren't left overs.

We hand out full-size candy bars ('cause I remember how awesome it was to get them when I was younger) and we usually buy 3 Costco variety packs and give out at least 30-40 of them.
We used to go all out with Halloween decorations too but now that our street is filled with so many young kids (mine included), we've conceded that our decorations are too scary for the little ones. Will have to wait 'til everyone is older.

We live in an apartment and haven't had any trick or treaters for the past two years, so we don't buy any.

I wish we would get more TOTs! Last time we only got a handful so we had so much candy leftover The neighborhood has grown over the year so hopefully we'll see some more kiddies this year. I'm thinking I'll buy two bags of candy

I live in England and they dont celebrate it here like we do BUT I live in a neighborhood known for having a lot of Americans, so the British kids flock here because they know we pass out American candy. I bought like 7 bags last year and ran out in a half an hour.
I bought extra this year, in kinds that DH and I like, so extra wont be a big deal. Lol. I doubt we'll have leftovers though.

I actually never give out candy. We are usually out and about so we leave our house dark and without candy.

@zippylef: haha I think it's hilarious that the British kids know where the Americans live and go there for free candy! Do they at least dress up?

@regberadaisy: Yes! They dress up! lol. I don't pass out candy to kids with no costumes. The British celebrate Halloween, just not really to the extent that we as Americans do.

We've never given out candy because our last two places were apartments and there weren't any trick-or-treaters. We live on post now but aren't sure if we'll be home or not. If so, we'll probably buy 2 or 3 bags.

My street is the only cul-de-sac in our neighborhood, and the others streets get TONS of trick or treaters but we only get a handful- like 15 or 20.

None no one goes trick-or-treating here. They do something similar for Easter though, so we buy candy then, but we always end up eating it ourselves since no kids come. Our neighborhood has a lot of senior citizens or babies, so they're either too small to walk around or busy visiting grandma and grandpas house.

@dagret: The cul-de-sac in our neighborhood is the street that gets the most people! They do all sorts of decorating so it's the place to be.

I think we've had two trick or treaters come in the past 4 years we've been here.
I grab a handful of candy from work (from my personal snack drawer) just in case anyone comes.
