Our daycare has a preschool program and there is a Montessori school, both are just under $20,000. Those are the only programs I have looked into thus far. We do not have public preschool in Westchester, NY.

I haven't done any research, just because we already know we want LO to go to our temple preschool. At first she'll go part time, so 3 days a week half days will be $333 a month, a little cheaper then normal prices because we're members. Eventually she'll do the extended day, which is 9:30-2:30, 5 days a week of that is $600. If we wanted to do a full day, five days (which we won't because I'm not going to start working until she's a little older), it'll be $710.

@hilsy85: As far as I can tell, those prices seem standard in NYC. Crazy right? This is why public pre-k seems to be the holy grail! I will be watching this thread closely as I have no idea how we will manage either.

@hilsy85: you are definitely not crazy, I am thinking about it constantly too! I know there is public pre-k in park slope. I'm oretty sure there should be in Brooklyn Heights too. The problem is that teh number of spaces are insanely limited and usually those with older siblings at the school get first dibs. It is definitely a lottery situation. Ugh. So stressful.

@hilsy85: Ours is slightly cheaper, being in Salt Lake City... but Montessori is pricey (and worth it!)

We looked into the JCC preschool and it was pretty reasonable. For 4 half days if you are a member it runs about $5K/year. We liked it an awful lot and if money was the deciding factor, we definitely would have gone there. We also really appreciated the emphasis on Jewish values.

So I think that preschool around here is way, way different than the types that you have.
There is a montessori program that is about 5600/year (Sept-June), but we are going with a play-focused school that is closer to our house. It is a non-profit, and is a whopping $120/month for 2 mornings a week. There are some additional fees (a cleaning fee, a 'mandatory donation' in lieu of fundraising, etc), but overall it is very affordable!

We want to send our kids to Montessori preschool. For ages 18 months to 3 years, Monday-Friday, one of the schools in our area is $10,830. This is a regular August - May school year. It's an additional $2,170 for the summer. It drops about $2,000 for 3 - 6 year olds.

DH and I are looking into this because DD has been at the same daycare/preschool since she was 8w old (now 25m) and we've spent $24000 so far. With #2 on the way we are having to make decisions on what to do.

Just found out with the sibling discount it will be about $1720/month for us to have both of them at the facility. Their program covers ages 6weeks to 1st grade (they also offer a before/after school program too) and they can be there from 6:30AM-6:30PM with holidays that match most of our work holidays.
