Hello,
I was wondering how much time your SO took off work after the birth of your baby? Did you deliver vaginally or c section?
Did you feel like it was enough time for you to be functioning with a new little one by yourself during the day?

I had a vaginal birth, DH took a week and a half off (so I voted two weeks). He just went back this past Monday and I hate it! I loved having him home. He saved his last week of vacation and personal days to take once baby came.

2 weeks then he was able to work from home a for another 2 weeks. I had a vaginal birth. She was in the nicu for 10 days so I really needed his emotional support.

Two weeks both times and I had uncomplicated vaginal births. His company pays for one week of paternity leave and encourages them to take a second week as annual leave, so that's what he did.

He took a week and a half, then did short weeks after that (so did a few 4 day weeks after that). My mom came up a couple days after he went back, then his mom came, so I had some help. Vaginal delivery and no complications with recovery.

My husband took 5 weeks off. I had a vaginal birth at home. I had some stitches, so I was in bed (by choice) for a week. He did everything.
He got 1 week of PTO, and the rest of his leave was allowed by FMLA. While it sucked to miss out on that income, we saved extra hard before the birth, and we really just stayed in (which meant we weren't spending money).
I am so grateful we were in a situation where it worked. I wouldn't trade those first weeks for anything. It was amazing. It might be worth noting that we live over 2,200 miles from our family, so I knew I would really need his support in the beginning.

The hubs took off 4 weeks after both babies.
He gets 6 weeks within the first year of baby's life for CA Paid Family Leave, so he takes off 4 initially, then the other 2 right before baby turns 1.
ETA: I had a vaginal hospital birth with both. He didn't stay home to take care of me, but to help out with the baby and to bond.

DH took off a week both times. For vaginal deliveries I was ready physically to be take care of myself, but I wasn't ready to be on my own taking care of a newborn.

With our first he took a week - but it fell over two weekends and Memorial Day so was 12 days. It was awesome!
With our second he took 2 days. Literally a half day when I was in labor, full day the next day, and half day the day we went home from the hospital. It was definitely not enough. He started a new job a few months prior and it was complicated to take more time. He took a weeks vacation 2 weeks later over the holidays.

13 weeks, same as me. I had a c-section, although that had no bearing on the time he took.

4 and 5 weeks after my csections. I want him to take 2 or 3 weeks for LO 3.

He was only supposed to take a day or two and then a longer leave a few months later. But I had a severe tear so he took one week to help me.

Two weeks. DH goes back to work next Thursday. I'm dreading being all alone all day.

1 week and that was all vacation time. We both would've liked more.

@Meowkers: Ugh, the first day! I remember being really upset, but thankfully, it wasn't too hard. Just a little sad. Best wishes to you!!

One week right after the birth and then two weeks when LO was a few months old (DH had only been at his job a few months when LO was born and didn't want to take off the full amount of time he was allowed -- 6 weeks). He says he'll take the full 6 weeks off when LO #2 comes along (whenever that is).

He took off 6 weeks. DS was born right before Thanksgiving, so we were able to leverage all the holiday time, plus he saved up his vacation and he took about a week or so unpaid. It was really awesome for us. We felt like it was important for both of to be home with him and bond with him. The only downside was that I never really had to care for DS myself that entire time and then it was really rough when I was on my own the last few weeks of maternity leave. Instead of starting out when he was sleepy and easy, I was alone with him at the height of fussiness.
But it was a really special time for us as a family :). I hope when we have another child we can do something similar.

He's a professor and "took off" 3 months in the summer. DS had a very rough time (colic) those first few months, and I'm so glad I had the support.

My lo was born on a Friday, the next Wednesday he worked half a day from home and I think he went in one day that week. The next 2 weeks he took one day off and worked one from home. It was a nice option for us but maybe not ideal. I think I would have preferred a few more days from home or half days but that was hard for him. I also had a pretty bad tear and a separated pelvis so stairs were hard for me for a long time and I was generally uncomfortable.

Four weeks for LO1, though then he did another four weeks working from home two days a week because I was an emotional wreck and couldn't be left alone multiple days in a row, haha.
Five weeks for LO2. Both were uncomplicated vaginal births. I couldn't drive for 2 weeks (supposedly), so he drove me and the baby around the first couple weeks, but the other weeks were more to support me emotionally and bond with the baby.

Vaginal birth, 3 days butted up onto a weekend. His company only offers 3 days of paid leave. He could have used vacation time, but my mom was here for a few weeks and we decided that he should save his vacation time for when I needed him after she left.

He took of 2 weeks for both births. Vaginal birth with no complications each time. I think ideally 4 weeks would have been nice but it would have been unpaid and we couldn't afford that.

He gets twenty days (which we know is *amazing*), and had to take it as intermittent leave instead of 4 weeks all at the same time (or even full weeks at the same time). So far he has used 12 days and my son is 9 weeks old . The good news is that he's been able to work from home a bunch, so although he is working and not able to help a lot, he is there to get in a quick cuddle or watch the monitor while I run to the grocery store. He works insane hours, but we are very lucky that he's been around as much as he has with our baby!

Vaginal with both, one week with the first, 2 days with second, but it was a Friday/sat/sun/mon.

LO1: We got home Thursday Morning, he went in at midnight...So, 12 hours?
LO2: Was at work while I was in labor, came to the hospital to see DS be born, went to work the next morning...
He just got promoted, so even though they offered, he didn't want to take any time off. The plan is for him to take a month off before DS turns one...that's the plan. We'll see.
He's really present when he is home so I can't be too upset.

2 weeks immediately after the birth. We were planning on just a week but we had a complicated first week and didn't go home from the hospital for a week so DH took another week off.

We moved for my job and he is still looking for a job here. So, pretty much is a SAHD for the moment.

My husband actually teaches at a college and ours was born during fall semester finals. He basically had a month off for winter break. Although he did have to go into work the day after she was born to give a final.

Only a couple of days because he had his own biz at the time. But he came home for lunch every day for a few weeks which was an awesome break!

For lo1 he took 1 week off post birth and then 4 more weeks when I went back to work.

Both vaginal births. He took 3 days off with N. When E arrived he took off 3 days too. Those include laboring days. He always worked early morning shifts and worked very hard to be present with the boys.
