I have really olive skin and can sit in direct sunlight for 2-3 hours without even getting a tan line! It is nice because I don't get burned, but a bummer because it takes a long time for me to build up a tan.
The only sunburn I have ever had was when I went to the Caribbean. ...oi, the sun is strong there!!

It really depends. Sometimes I can be out for hours and not get burned at all and sometimes I can burn within minutes!
Hawaii is definitely a place where I burn very quickly!

Usually the first time in the sun i burn, my matter the amount of sunblock I apply, but once I get that first burn out of the way I can be in the sun and only tan with or without sunblock. I do wear it no matter what though just to be safe.

I sat out for about 2-3hrs in the hottest part of the day yesterday and only had a little redness on the tops of my legs. Like you, my skin seems pretty tolerant to the sun, but tans quite quickly. If I "burn" it'll be brown by the following day.

I walk to the mailbox and get sunburned! Lol. I am really fair. It does eventually turn to tan though

Ummm... 20 minutes? I bought a long sleeved rash guard that is 50 SPF and wore it to the beach/pool every day when we were on vacation last month. Not the sexiest beachwear, but I have really fragile skin! I also wore 80+ SPF sunscreen and managed not to get burned.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: I have really freckly skin (I'm half English Isles) and I have a few that are slightly suspicious that the dermatologist monitors, so I am ultra careful.

It depends on where I am. Florida on a sunny day, 20 minutes for my skin to turn pink (without sunscreen). Up north here, 45 mins to an hour on a sunny day. Luckily, I turn to tan pretty quickly.

10 or 15 minutes. When I was in Turkey I wore long sleeves and a headscarf and I burned THROUGH the fabric and ended up with some kind of sun overdose thing where my body broke out in rough patches and bumps and my skin itched and burned.
Needless to say, I buy a lot of sunscreen.

Like -12 seconds? I burn VERY easily...like, if I sit too close to a window I get burnt.
It never turns into a tan, either 
Just flakes and peels and I'm back to my pale self.

I don't really burn but I do tan VERY easily. Like 20 minutes and I have a tan line I'm stuck with the whole summer into winter.
Oh, I wear at least SPF 50 and have "yellow" skin.

15 minutes on a normal Florida summer day. With 50 spf, I can make it 30 minutes. I am so fair skinned and do not tan. I just freckle. Thanks for nothing, English/Irish roots.

Maybe like 5-10 minutes w/o burning. I have fair skin and burn quickly. I always wear sunscreen.

15-20 minutes. I can get a burn taking my class out to recess. I got a bad burn over the weekend a few weeks ago and when my second graders walked in on Monday morning one yelled "What happened to your FACE!?" So yeah.

@mrs. 64: I don't want to be alarming, but my MIL used to be a PE teacher and still coaches track and field. She is very fair skinned and sustained a ton of sun damage over the years. Now she is not allowed to be in the sun unless totally covered along with a hat or umbrella. She hasn't had skin cancer, but is very closely monitored by a dermatologist.

It takes me about 15-20 minutes to get a tan line, so far I have not had a sun burn.
