When I was younger I got $2 per lost tooth. It seems the rate has increased significantly these days. When I chat with kids who lost their teeth it's $5-$20 on average. I think we will do around $3-$5? We have a few more years to think about it. I was watching Teen Mom and Farrah gave her daughter something like $600 for her lost tooth. Insane...

We have a change jar and I grab some - so it varies -always been below $3
I tell DS she only carries change 
Plus its fun to sort the coins and count it

I was thinking $1, but might just give them a $2 bill instead so it's more enticing to save then spend. I can only hope. Ha!

It was really sad to watch her count the money while Sophia was asking her not to. I'm sure it's also really sad that I still watch the show so...haha. But, I can imagine a world where I would give her a single 100 dollar bill for her first tooth (assuming we made porn money). But, IF we do tooth fairy, we'll do 5 dollars for her first tooth and 1 dollar after? Or something in that range. First tooth definitely gets more money, it's special.

Umm no! We rarely have bills in our wallets, so we'll be like @Mamaof2: and let our LO grab some coins from the junk drawer. At the most I think $5 all in ones so it feels like more should be sufficient.

I got a dollar. I don't care what her friends get it will be 1 to 2 dollars. We didn't do the tooth fairy though. My parents gave us treasure hunts when we lost a tooth. We still go money but they would hide it in the house and then we had to look for it. (They would give hints). It was fun and likely what we will do when the time comes.

As a kid, I got $10 or $20. It was just a way for them to give me a bit of money to learn with. I took it to the bank and deposited it with a teller and watched my bank book balance increase. We plan to do the same!

We always got $2 bills with glitter on them and called them "tooth dollar bills". We also wrote notes to the tooth fairy requesting to keep our teeth and she would write back in tiny font on paper about the size of a fortune cookie fortune, also with glitter on it (fairy dust). Was always sp much fun to loose a tooth!

I think coins are more fun for little ones than dollar bills. So probably a quarter or a silver dollar.
I think even $5 is a lot! Much less $20 or $600!
