Probably depends on where you live. I'd charge to cover your ingredients and maybe charge 20 bucks an hour for the time you spend.

For us, we went the cheap route and just got a cake from Safeway to use as a smash cake. I didn't think LO would consume much of it (she didn't) and I didn't want to get an expensive cake just for pictures/destroying. We spent $10 and I was happy spending that. I have no idea how Safeway makes any money by selling me a 6" cake for $10.

However, there are LOTS of moms out there who want higher end cakes (e.g. higher end ingredients or beautiful looking) and those moms are probably who I would try to target. You just need to find your niche and you can charge more than a bakery. I think @mrsH's advice is sound though. Start with covering your ingredients + $15-20/hr of your time.

The baker we always use includes a smash cake free when you buy a bigger cake. I'm sure she folds it into the price somehow. DS's cake was 25 servings, plus a smash cake, for $78

We paid $35 for ours. I probably would have paid up to $45 depending on how intricate the design was.

Probably not more than $20. Our local grocery store sells ones that work just great for under $10, so I would honestly probably just go that route if I didn't make my own.

I agree with @anandam: between 25-40, depending. Though, I might use that as a real cake it is so pretty!

I would pay around $25 I think. I would be more likely to use a specialty person if they offered a few options that were lower in sugar or made with anything that sounds healthier than grocery store cakes.

I just pulled up my receipts from ordering cakes. A 6” cake was $15 and an 8" cake was $28. Both were decorated fairly simply. I would actually pay a bit more than that for something that is beautifully decorated.

For the cakes you pictured I would pay up to $60
