I used it a lot, but I liked to go walking on maternity leave. Since I use it for exercise/running, I have a jogging stroller and an umbrella stroller. I honestly think both are very needed, but if you really won't use stroller for exercise at all, and are going to baby wear, I think a nice umbrella stroller could do the job.

I use our stroller daily. But I also use it as a means of transportation since we have public transit and are a one car family. Also, there is a park in a 5 minute walk to our house I go to daily as a way to get out of the house. I have a Britax stroller that is pretty lightweight and folds up nicely that could fit in a small trunk. But I do agree that the technology and options change frequently.

We live in the burbs and have the UBV. Use it all the time. LO is 5 weeks.

We barely used it, but mostly b/c DD was born in Dec so we weren't going on anyways! Really just clicked the carseat onto it for very short distances.

With E, maybe twice? It was easier to wear her at that age. With T, I take the stroller every week to my PT appt, though.

Daily for park/neighborhood walks except in bad weather. (Used my carrier nearly daily as well.)

I have an ub cruz and gluxe in a city and use one or the other on a daily basis-- I prefer the cruz but there's only space to leave the gluxe at her daycare, so we use that in daycare days. Honestly I thought I'd be more Into babywearing but found it limited my sense of mobility -- I couldn't carry lo and a diaper bag easily so I preferred the stroller for most outings, unless it was raining or snowing since it's hard to push and carry an umbrella

Maybe you want to consider a snap and go for the newborn days? We used the stroller all the time the first 6 months. Especially while I was on maternity leave. It was essential that the carseat go into the stroller, because DS always fell asleep in the car. And we live in an area where we drive everywhere.

I did a lot of babywearing around the house and on walks but when he was really little there was no way I was going to wake him up by taking him out of the carseat so I could wear him. So many times we went out to eat and we'd pull the carseat out the car, put it in the stroller, and wheel him up to the table and he'd sleep the entire time.

The other thing about having a bigger stroller is that there's way more room. When you have a newborn it seems like there's a million things you need to carry along with you. Having a big basket that holds the diaper bag and a ton of other stuff was really helpful for us.

I was going to suggest what @ShootingStar: recommended, and buying a snap and go type of stroller for your infant car seat. We have the UB g-luxe and I wasn't comfortable putting DS in it until he was able to sit up.

I'm assuming you're going to use an infant seat? So much easier to transport baby in the infant car seat than take baby out and put into a stroller.

We used the stroller pretty often during the first three months, but she did prefer to be worn in those early days and would fall asleep in the Moby way better than the stroller. But I live in the city and have used my stroller almost daily since then. For me, a gluxe wouldn't be good enough since we walk miles every day, but it sounds like you will be in and out of the car a lot more.

It sounds like you aren't planning on an infant car seat? If you are getting one, you should consider the mountain buggy nano. It's similar to the gluxe, has a good recline, but you can attach an infant seat to it as well for the newborn days. I couldn't have gone straight to a convertible seat- my kid did NOT handle being taken out of the seat and brought inside or put in a carrier or stroller well at all. But some babies do! It was just so much easier for me to carry the whole seat and put it in the stroller or in the house when she was sleeping.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I think you're going to make things a lot harder on yourself than you need to by not getting a bucket seat. Prolonged use is for hours at time. You don't want to let the baby nap in there if not necessary and you don't want to do overnight sleep of course. But if you're going to be out for a couple hours then you're fine.

I use my jogging stroller almost everyday when I go running. Once my son was a solid walker, I ditched the stroller unless we absolutely needed it.

Ds1 was a cold weather baby and we barely used the stroller until the springtime.

Ds2 is a summer baby and I use his stroller caddy nearly every day.

Agreed with shootingstar. I also was very wary of car seat usage for baby but definitely when they are sleeping an comfortable you don't want to disturb them! As long as they are not taking all their daily naps in it they will be fine .

In the city I used it daily. The bassinet attachment on the UB Vista was great for the first couple of months. Getting out and taking walks was the only way to stay sane.
That being said, your question about using the gluxe - at 3 months I most definitely didn't feel comfortable using it. I didn't feel comfortable until 5-6 months when he could sit up better. It doesn't have sides the way a full sized stroller or car seat has. So if they fall to the side there's nothin to lean on. If that makes sense.
Just remember that not every baby likes baby wearing, even if your dead set on it. I had a ktan and he haaaaated it. I wanted to baby wear so badly. Once he got to the weight requirement I could sometimes use the bjorn but even that was hit or miss. Finally at 11 months I can use it more with him facing out, but he still loves his strollers more than anything.
Also, re: the convertible car seat (I know it's off topic). When they are so tiny and fragile it might be kinda hard/stressful to get them in and out of the convertible. With the angle and everything. The bucket was stressful enough and that was on the ground in front of me. I can't speak from experience just imagining it now that my son is in a convertible, what would it hVe been like as a newborn.
And I think sometimes hospitals require a bucket seat to leave? But you seem like you do lots of research so maybe you already checked with your hospital
Also, take into consideration if you will use cabs a lot or fly. Bucket seats are super helpful in those situations (one ones that can be installed with just a seat belt and no base).
I don't think you can be wrong in any of these choices, just a preference thing Everyone has different ideas of what's easy and often it changes many times once the baby is born, in my experience at least

In the newborn stage, I pretty much only used it for walks in the neighborhood. I just used a car seat adapter and snapped in the infant seat. I used the K'tan much much more. Even now, at 14 months, I'm still more of a baby-wearer but he's getting heavy so I'm actually looking into the G Luxe as well.
I wouldn't have felt comfortable using the G Luxe as a newborn. Perhaps you can look into a snap-n-go type of frame, which is less than a stroller? you can probably find a second-hand one for pretty cheap.

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: my little guy went into his convertible car seat at 2-3 weeks and it's never been an issue for us. When he was tiny I would just pop him in the stretchy wrap and then the Ergo as he got bigger. If he fell asleep in the car, he'd usually go back to sleep once he was in the wrap / Ergo.

I still wear him a lot now at four months but I really started using our Mountain Buggy pram with him at around 10-12 weeks, I love being able to load up the pram with all our stuff and it's so convenient as a place to put him down if we're out to lunch, out shopping etc. I also have an almost three year old so I have more hands for her when the little guy is in the pram.

Could you possibly borrow or pick up a second hand stroller to use in the early days?

@Mrs. Lemon-Lime: I lived in the city and the suburbs and I have never used a stroller with a newborn or young baby. We got the Uppababy G"Luxe when LO#1 was 8 months, and before that I exclusively used the carrier. Now we have a second baby, and we still only have the G-Luxe for our 2 year old, and I haven't felt the need for anything else! So I would highly recommend.
