I bathe my 3 year old every other day at least or every day depending how dirty she got. I just started bathing DS, 4 weeks, every day or every other day to start a bedtime routine and it helps calm him down during evening fussiness

@yellowbird: DD is almost 11 mo old and I've never bathed her daily! We do it twice a week and I too only wipe down exposed body parts on non-bath days.

I do baths 2x a week for my 5 month old. I was doing it more frequently when he was throwing up more. He has really sensitive skin so I don't like to wash him that often. I'll give longer massages during bath time at bedtime.

@Charm54: Same here! DS1 got a bath nearly every night as part of his routine. It was so easy with just one! Poor DS2 gets a bath once a week. Until he gets older and we can bathe them together, that's just how it's going to be. There's just not enough time in the evening to bathe him more than that. Thankfully he's not a dirty baby just yet.

@yellowbird: my nine month old is bathed every night for a few reasons: first, she comes home from daycare with greasy hair. She's pretty clean otherwise, but the hair needs a washing. Second, it's often a stalling tactic! She's so tired post-daycare that she's rubbing her eyes pretty early into the evening. Having her hang out in the tub is a way to buy some time until it's closer to her bedtime.
ETA: not every bath includes washing! Sometimes she's just hanging out and splashing around.

for my 4 month old the doc said I was bathing him too much and he had really bad cradle cap so I've switched to 2x a week and his cradle cap is almost gone
I wipe his hands off a lot though and look for any milk that may have gotten under his chin
