We usually switch it out about very two months. Mainly because usually within that time frame she will drop it on the floor near the toilet. 
Thankfuly rite aid regularly has the toddler two packs on clearance for like a $1.50. So I stock up when I see them!

Whenever I look at it and think 'yuck'.

Whenever they get a new one at their dental cleanings. Sometimes D will see a toothbrush with something cool on it and we'll switch to that one.

I always check the toothbrush aisle at pharmacies. A lot of times they're on clearance. so I don't mind switching them out so often.

@regberadaisy: my dentist has actually given us a couple anyway (she comes to my appts and hangs out in the stroller while I have my teeth cleaned and they all love her there. ) so I have no excuse other than laziness.

It probably averages to every 2 months. They get free ones at school and at dental visits so I rarely buy them, haha!
