Ours looks gross and it really needs to be thrown away, we need a new one. How often do you replace yours?

All the time - once every few months I guess. I just can't be bothered to clean it even though I know that's wasteful. I feel like washing it is just prolonging the inevitable I hate shower curtain liners. I feel like there should be a better non-mildewy option out there by now, right??

I have a fabric curtain that I wash twice a year. I replace the liner once a year!

I'd say every 6 months. I probably should change it earlier than that. I don't think I can wash it in my washing machine.

I think you can wash most of them, you just toss them in with a couple towels. We wash ours, it is a pretty heavy duty one though ... and now I am reminded that I wanted to get that done this week!

@mrs. bird: My washer say not to wash waterproof items. I'm assuming that means shower curtain liners too? I don't know why though. I would much rather wash it than buy a new one every 6 months!

@JerricaBenton: I HATE cleaning shower curtains - ew they're so gross. I just get new ones too
At our old place the shower was all glass, so we bought a new one for this place. It's only been 4 months and it's already getting gross!! I'll probably replace it at 6 months. This is why I buy the cheap $5 liners.

Whenever it starts to look blackened - I know, that sounds gross and disgusting but my husband's a mechanic. The black isn't mold, it's actually just all the excess grease he brings home from his job! So whenever our clear shower curtain starts to look a little misty, then grey, then black around the edges? That's when I know it's time. Doesn't matter if I put it in a week ago!
