<< We actually didn’t allow classifieds threads on the boards at first, since it was a violation of our self promotion policy (and we were too slammed with a new baby to build a proper classifieds!).
Eventually some users asked us if they could start a monthly classifieds thread… I knew it’d be a long time before we got to Classifieds, so we said ok:

@mrbee: I remember, but when we first heard a longer term solution was in the works, there was no gold and it would have been open to everyone. Clearly I still love and participate in the site, I just disagreed with this particular decision
