I think friend time is crucial to our relationship pre-/post- marriage and I'll apply the same once babies are here. I try to see my gfs at least a few times a month for girl time. Whether it's a mani/pedi, dinner, or movie date. DH does the same with his boys for happy hour/football games/etc. Together, we also try to hang out with friends a handful of times during the month. Sometimes it's more often than others and it's been hard with the holidays, but we make it happen as often as we can!

I'll have to update about post-baby, but currently, I see my friends a lot (probably more than my husband likes, haha). I see my best friend once a week (Friday nights), and my brother, who I consider a friend, also once a week (Saturdays). Then I see one of my other friends every 3 weeks (for pedis) and another one about once or twice a month. I'm assuming that will all decrease once we have kids though.

Not enough. We moved right before I gave birth so I don't really have any friends here, and I wish we went home more often to get to hang out with them. But I'm working on making friends here!

@Mrs. Bee: we have been the ones going to our friends with kids houses (after the kids are asleep) so I wonder how it will be when we have a child. Should be interesting!

Pre-baby the hubs and I went out ALL THE TIME and hung out with friends ALL THE TIME - our lives were very, very social! Since baby, (she's 4 months old) I've gone out just once and that was just to a friend's house to hang out. I haven't actually gone out-out.

But now that LO goes to bed at 6-6:30 and doens't need a feeding until midnight, I'm hoping to get out more - but we'll see.

Of course, people come over ALL the time - our house has become the hang out place for our friends (none of our friends have children) - I love it when people come over, the company makes me feel human again.

Ummm.... very rarely. We'll go to dinner with friends every once in a while. We like to go out to dinner anyway because I love getting out of the house, and we're getting pretty good at handling the baby and dog at dinner (he has seperation anxiety so we don't like leaving him).

But I haven't done anything without my baby with friends since she was born. I went to a ballet with my SIL (who I consider a friend too) after my LO went to sleep, but that's it.

I agree, that it is crucial to try and get out and be "normal". I find it quite hard to go out at night although we do get out at least 2x a month for a party or something. My in-laws are fabulous about spending the night at our house to watch my LO while we go out. We have people over on weekends in the afternoons when she is awake and ready to play, otherwise the evenings are reserved for me and the hubs to catch up on favourite shows/movies.

We probably see friends 2-3 times per month as a couple. DH works 2nd shift so he's busy M-F nights. I probably see my friends/fam 1 or 2 times a week on my own.

Oh goodness, it's been quite a while. I met one for coffee maybe 3 months ago, and another came to our house a while back. Other than that, it's mostly just hanging out with family. I find that now it's so hard to hang out with people that don't have kids, or are at least nowhere near having kids. It's nothing against them, but they don't seem to understand that time for outings are limited, especially since I BF. I also only leave my LO with my husband, I kind of have trust issues with a sitter and I have a lot of old-fashioned family who kind of does what they want instead of following instructions, e.g. "Please don't feed my 7 month old cake."

Pre baby - every weekend and sometimes Thursdays for happy hour

Post baby - we spend more time with family now but see them twice a month or more. They don't have kids so it is easy for them to come to our house. We very rarely get babysitters unless it is for a wedding or other special occassion. About once a month or two months each of us gets a night by ourselves.

We became friends with our neighbors so we are able to go over there while LO is sleeping. We just bring the monitor...eeek!
