I did tonight but that was the first time in about a year. Is it getting less frequent, in the general cyberworld, or is it just me?

All the time! It's one of my favorite things to do. It's how my husband and I communicate throughout the day and how I catch up with friends. When I'm at work, I do it a whole lot more than I am now that I'm home, though.

A long time ago, I blocked all my chat visibility. I find when I get to chatting, it can take a really long time...in a good way but then I don't want to reject people if I don't have a long time. I rarely use my cell phone either just b/c I'm busy or wanting to have quiet for family reasons. Recently, I replaced my phone with a loaner and the texting is so awkward/inconvenient so I don't even text these days. I always use email to arrange FTF dates with friends. -
I chat with friends a few times a week at work!

I use it every day. It is how I keep up with my family. I don't use it to talk to friends though, but that is because my few close friends don't use it.

I never chat anymore. I can text my husband while he is at work, and my sister and I Skype. Everyone else I talk to less frequently.

I chat on the work communicator daily with coworkers and use gchat too, not as much as work comm tho

I used to Gchat a lot, but haven't in forever. I usually just text.

I never chat..I blocked availability on facebook. I just text people. It's hard because I don't want to sit on facebook all day, and the one time I try to check something quick (say, an update or a message) someone I never talk to will want to catch up. I always feel like they think I'm BSing when I say I'm in a rush!
I'm an avoider personality - I just stay offline. lol.

i only chat with mr. bee and then with friends once in a while.... a couple times a month at most. it's so easy to get sucked in for a long time, so i just don't do it at all.

I used to all the time because there was a limit on the number of texts I could send. Plus, it was more discrete chatting instead of texting. Now, I strictly text - no chatting.

Occasional gchat maybe 2 - 3x a week. Right now it's a bit more frequent because my sister in Taiwan for the summer and it's easiest to communicate via gchat.
I used to chat ALL.THE.TIME, especially in college, uhm 10 - 11 years ago. When AIM (AOL Instant Messanger) was huge, I practically lived on there. I think my record was 12 or 13 hours straight of chatting during college. I always had at least 6 different chat screens open... I was crazy.
I think the biggest difference is that I used to just sit on the chats for HOURS and my friends and I would talk about random stuff for no good reason. Now when I message someone, it's because I have a question for them, or there is a purpose to my chat.
