In the warmer months it was whenever I remember after bath time. Now that it's colder I'm trying to do it nightly after bath time. I'm wondering if I should lotion her face before we leave the house in the mornings too so it doesn't get chapped when it starts getting really cold out.

we plan on continuing using sunscreen, even in the winter (my lo is pasty!) so i hope that will act as a barrier to the wind and cold.

@hilsy85: @MsLipGloss: My house too ladies!! R will sometimes be ok with a toy or if I sing her a song, but usually she is screaming till I pick her up. Lately she is spitting up all over her pj's so I have to do it twice!

We rarely lotion her. She has never had dry skin!
When she was a baby it was part of her bed time routine, but that stopped around 10 or 11 months when she got too squirmy for lotion and massage.

I don't think I have ever put lotion on her - I didn't realize it was so common! Do you all do it because LO needs it, or to prevent dry skin? I can see how I might need to do it in the winter since the cold can be so dry

LOL for the most part I can distract her by letting her play with a clean diaper, acting crazy, singing, etc. The worst is when she keeps flipping for her wipes! Drives me bonkers!

@swurlygurl: LO doesn't have dry skin so I do it more as a preventative measure. Especially in the winter because we get harsh, cold sub zero temperatures! And yes, it does get awfully dry in the winter so the extra moisture certainly can't hurt!
I can see how it's not as necessary if you barely get a winter.

I lotion LO every morning and night. Right now, he's obsessed with the bottles-Johnson & Johnson. In the morning, we use the pink bottle. At night, we use the purple bottle. He loves it as part of his routine.

It used to be part of our night time routine but we haven't done it lately! His skin doesn't get too dry.

I put coconut oil on her whenever she takes a bath. On average, every other night.

We actually have never used lotion on DS and he's smooth as can be. I hate the feeling of lotion on my hands so it skeeves me out to lotion him.

Night and morning Bc he had sensitive skin that gets super dry and we live in the desert!

Xander has eczema so he gets oinment at LEAST twice a day (morning and night) and will often get it reapplied to his face a few more times since he tends to rub it off!

Her legs get lotion every morning and night. The rest of her body just in the mornings. Weird, but her little legs just soak up every bit of lotion.

P is a scratcher. She is literally covered in self inflicted scratches. Ped says she has dry skin. So, we bathe her less, but I put coconut oil on her body and limbs before bed, and earth mama angel baby nipple butter on her face. I am nervous about how dry she sill be this winter
I get red and raw from the dry heat, I imagine she will be the same.

@bpcmarj: what about aquaphor? Do you have a humidifier for her room?

@bpcmarj: Have you tried shea butter? Coconut oil wasn't heavy/thick enough for our LO's dry skin. Shea butter has been awesome. I also second the humidifier recommendation from @locavore_mama:

I think DH puts lotion on DS every night after his bath. The times I do bath time I use coconut oil.

@locavore_mama: haven't tried aquaphor, mostly her skin has been pretty sensitive. We will get a humidifier, but the heat isn't on yet.
