Real paper money or coins?
Almost never for me! I usually only have cash when someone pays me back for their portion of the dinner bill that I charged on my credit or debit card.

@autumnlove: never! I never have cash and I always feel bad because several services I use don't accept cc tips and I always forget!

I've been trying to pay with cash more and more. It's easier for me to track my spending when money is physically disappearing from my wallet, and then I don't have to worry about my debit card info being hacked. It's tough for big purchases like weekly grocery shopping though.

Almost never.. Even when I happen to have cash, I forget about it and still use my bank card.

almost never. Just to pay the dog walker and then if I have any change from her I just use it for coffee.

It is better for our local ecomony so I try to at local places. Most only take cash or check! And we only eat or get coffee or tea locally. They have signs saying please use cash if possible.

Usually only when I have to pay to park....which is a PITA to try and keep a supply of coins just in case!

Usually only when splitting a bill at dinner when it's just easier to do cash. Otherwise, never. Not even for a dollar coffee.

Rarely, but I try to use cash when we go to small businesses (my stylist, the coffee shop by our house, etc) so they can save on credit card transaction fees. We usually stop by the ATM to get money specifically for those purchases.

Just for my cleaner and tips. I would rather get cc rewards.

Almost never. I carry and "emergency $40" in my wallet, and usually some coins for parking meters or whatever, but everything else goes on the CC. I get the cash back rewards and I find it keeps me from buying small impulse items because I don't want to use my CC for just a cup of coffee or chocolate bar.

I rarely have money on me, I find that if I start buying things with cash, I have no idea where the money went. I like to pay with my card that way I can track my spending.

For fun things - all cash! For groceries and household supplies and gas, credit.

Almost never. Cash is filthy, nasty stuff and I'd rather not touch it unless absolutely necessary.

We have been using cash to help control our spending, so recently a lot. We take out a set amount every paycheck for "fun" stuff. I actually save the change everyday in a jar and ended up with $200 from the past year! I was able to get a BRU gift card from coin star for no service charge. We are using it towards our glider.

As long as I have cash... I have a debit card but I don't use it for some reason.

Rarely. My parents usually give us cash when they visit, so we'll use the cash we get for groceries and etc until it's all gone. Don't like carrying it around so we usually use our debit card.

Almost never. Only if a place is cash only or if we are splitting a bill amongst a ton of people and its easier to do cash, though we almost never eat out after LO arrived so this doesn't happen

I usually pay cash if the purchase is less than $5 or $10, but credit card if it's more than that. Or if it's a big group thing, sometimes cash is easier--like, I was at a weekend bachelorette party a couple weeks ago and made sure to bring a ton of cash since it seemed easier to do that than splitting restaurant bills between like 10 cards

Very often now since we had a good cash system started to pay down cc bills a few years back. We're now down to only 2 credit cards, car note, and student loans. On Sunday we each get a certain amount for the week in cash. It can go to lunch or Starbucks or whatever. Anything for the household or big purchases goes on cc to be paid off immediately at the end of the month.

We switched to an all cash envelope system a couple of months ago and it has been amazing! You can't spend what you don't have and it helped us to simplify and follow the budget.

Cash is King! Here's an inspiring story of how one couple got out of debt using the cash envelope system.
