I just found some of my daughter's bath toys have a small hole in them and they have filled with water. When I shook them to empty them, black stuff comes out with the water. 
I am having to toss a whole bunch of her toys now. I guess Santa will be bringing new bath toys.
How often do you chuck bath toys and get new ones?

We ran into the same issue and no longer have any bath toys that can get water in them! So he's got foam letters, animals, plastic cups, hollow plastic ducks with no holes, etc. Need to buy some glow sticks to change things up sometimes!

We've actually never had mold issues with the squeakers. I squeeze water out nightly and have randomly cut open some to check. But we have a handful of those that were gifts and all other toys don't retain water. I've also started throwing her non water retaining bath toys in the dishwasher once very 1-2 months when there's free space in the top rack.

@regberadaisy: these weren't squeakers or squirt toys. They were toys that weren't supposed to retain water.
