How often do you see your inlaws? And how far away are they? How do you feel about it? We live a 2hr plane ride + 2hr drive from mine and it seems we will see them at least 5 or 6 times this year.
I kind of freaked out on DH last night because they are visiting at the end of the month and the thought of it is already stressing me out. Full disclosure: we lived with them for 9 months last year and I don't really feel the need to see them so much yet.

DH's parents live 2 doors down! Originally I thought it'd be great for when we have kids...but still waiting on that unfortunately!
We see them about once a week. And I'm fine with that. Sometimes I get a little irritated at DH b/c he'll be like, "We haven't seen my parents all week...." And I'll be thinking, "Um, excuse me but my parents live over 6000 miles away, quit your whining!"
I may be a little resentful that his parents are so close., while mine are so far. I love them though, they are great people. And thank God they are not like Raymond's parents, barging in all the time! Although MIL did interrupt me in the middle of a bath once to get a baking pan back! Oy.

I lived abroad for 4 years, a 6 hour plane ride from my parents and about an hour drive from my in laws. Once our son was born, we saw them at least twice a month, if not more. They had a really kid friendly backyard and house, so it was a break for me to go there and have some help!
They're coming to visit for 2 weeks, arriving this Sunday. I think I am more excited to see them than my husband is!

We live about 1.5-2 hours from Hubs parents (who are divorced). I think we see them about 3-4 times a year. Usually around Christmas, Thanksgiving, and at least once during the summer.

We live about 5 minutes away from my in-laws. We are in the process of building a house on the same plot of land, so we will be a few doors down when that's finished.
They are really awesome people, and I like seeing them. My parents are about 45 minutes away so we see them a fair amount also, just not as much.

We live 10 mins away, we see them every Sunday for dinner! I also usually see my mil once through the week since LO arrived.

I voted daily because it's way more often than weekly. We see them ~3 times a week.
I was actually talking about this with my sister yesterday, I fully believe I would like them 10x more if I didn't have to see them so often. If I saw them bi-monthly or monthly, I would probably love them.

We see them at least once a week. As much as I complain about my MIL it has been so great seeing LO with them on a regular basis. And their help has been awesome; just to have someone to pick her up from daycare when she's sick so DH & I don't have to take PTO. And date night!

We live 2,500 miles from our family, so we see them 2-3 times per year. I struggle with it, but the time we do spend is pretty awesome. And, yes .... I love my in-laws.

We live about 500 yards from my in laws, and probably see them every other day. Sometimes it gets to be a bit much, as they stop by without calling a lot. I told DH he needs to have a chitchat with them before the baby is born as they can't be stopping by constantly interrupting bedtime routines and nursing and such.
My dad lives 4 and a half hours away and we usually see him every other month or so.

About twice a month since baby was born, but usually they come to stay and help for a couple of nights. before baby probably about 1-2/ month for a meal. They live about 1 1/2 hr away driving.

They live about 10 minutes away and my FIL has a stupid habit of not calling before he comes over. DH had a talk with him, though and it's better, now. I don't mind him coming over, but I usually am in the middle of something. It's better if he waits for DH is there, cause he's very long winded and I don't have a lot of time so sit and listen to him.
I see MIL about twice a week cause she works funny hours.

It's inconsistent, sometimes we see then a couple times in a wk, others we can go a month + without seeing them (I loooooove those months!). MIL has tried to institute a monthly dinner, which I'm fine with, but i think if a holiday takes place that should count as our visit- she disagrees. In my defense, half the time they invite is over they aren't there when we arrive & expect us to just sit around & wait or they sit in their bedroom on the phone for 45mins and expect us to serve ourselves dinner without them... It's super awkward. They live 15 mins away. We'd like to change that.

My MIL is about 15 minutes away and comes by about once a week. My SIL is same distance but I see her maybe once a month. Same for BIL and family - they're about an hour away, we see them about once a month. My parents are also about an hour away and come by at least once a week.

Is too often an option? It varies between 2-3x per week to per month depending on how busy they/we are. MIL always complains that whatever we do is never enough. Sigh. Meanwhile, we never see my parents.

We see them 3-4 times a week and I would probably like them a lot more if I saw them far less than I do now. They don't usually stop by without calling but they give such short notice (like 5-10 minutes) they might as well.

My in laws live 1.5 hours away. We try to visit them once at their home once every 1.5-2 months because the hubby loves seeing his nephew. In between those times, they will come into the city and we'll have dinner with them. We normally don't spend more than a few hours with them at a time though.

My MIL comes to visit every other month. We see her more than my family because she is a hr drive away and my mom has to fly. I get along great with my MIL, so I don't mind seeing her so often.

We see them 1-3 times a year. They live 5 hours away from us and don't travel much, so we are always the ones going there. It's hard to travel 5 hours for just a weekend, especially with a dog that gets carsick, so we usually save up some vacation time and go for a nice 4-5 day stretch surrounding a weekend when we can.

His family lives 30 min away and we see them at major holidays and sometimes dinner or bbq's. Anywhere from 0-2x/month

I think it will be about twice a month now that DD is here. They are about two hours away. I don't mind seeing them that frequently, but I do mind when it means they come here and stay overnight. I like my privacy and with a young infant, it's a pain to have overnight guests.

They live about an hour drive from us but they come into the city quite often. Fortunately we don't see them every time...a couple times in the city and a couple times at their house.
I love them, but can't stand them if that makes sense

At least once a month if not more since they live only half an hour away but I would be much more inclined to see them every two or three months (or two or three times a year) regardless of how close they are to our house. We just don't get along, there's a lot of "miscommunications" and so on. Ugh.

We live 2 hours away from my in-laws....but I wish we could see them more. They are such great in-laws and grandparents. They are super active and busy...FIL races cars in his retirement! LOL, I feel like they are busier than us. We have a great relationship though. They are very polite and aware of boundaries. They are truly a joy to be around!

My MIL was just giving us grief over this yesterday. She lives a 4 hour car ride away and we get up there 3-4x a year. We both work full time and have a 1 year old, she's retired, but she implied we should be coming up there more. Yeah...

@TheSwissWifeStyle: wow, that is super close! I could definitely see the benefit of having grandparents around to help out with kids. My inlaws live like 10min walking from my BIL, and I know they see their kids really often/babysit.
@MrsTiz: @grizz: haha, I get it. I think I would appreciate mine more if I saw them less, even though I see mine less than you see yours!
@regberadaisy: I admit the help would be really nice sometimes, but I also like not feeling intruded on. My MIL is a bit invasive.
@bisous: totally agree about not wanting them to stay over...and DS is a toddler! I just like my privacy, I guess.
I should say I do like my inlaws, buy I don't like that every visit has to be for multiple days plus a stay at our house or their house since we live far away. I wonder how I would feel if we lived closer, but just saw them for a few hours at a time, like for a meal or something?
