My 21 month old is obsessed with bikes. OBSESSED. He also loves helmets. He likes wearing my husband's helmet on his ride-on truck but when he sees a real bike or trike he goes NUTS. We've let him try a few in stores but he's not tall enough for most of them. we're thinking about one of those wooden ones that doesn't have pedals maybe?
Anyway, when did your child get a tricycle or bicycle?

We got LO a tricycle at around 2. He also has a hand me down pedal less wooden one from his cousin but hasn't been too interested it.

We bought one of the balance bikes for our 18 month old. It isn't technically one but it was half the price at kmart. It was the toddler lightning McQueen 10 inch bike. It came with training wheels too.

We got DD a trike at 2 years old.
My 14 month old is obsessed with ride-on toys already. She likes the Y shaped bikes for little toddlers that don't have pedals.

I am thinking of getting my son one of those wooden balance bikes, he'll be 2 in December.

I am considering the Strider st-3 balance bike for my kids (4 yr old and 12 month). 4 yr old loved her trike but it is doing nothing in terms of preparing her for a big girl bike. The main advantage of this bike that I can see is that it is very light weight (easy for little ones) and the seat can be lowered really low for any size kid (18 month-5y). By the time the youngest is ready for it, I hope my oldest will be riding a real bike and that we will have skipped the training wheels, ugh!

DD got her first tricycle for her 2 year birthday, although she's still not great at peddaling (at 27 months). I think the kid's down the street from us are 3 and 5, and they just got balance bikes this summer.

Wow, thanks everyone! I thought maybe we were getting way ahead of ourselves but it seems lime the timing is normal. Gotta get this kid his wheels before he loses his mind with this obsession!
