LO is 9 months old and has become a very distracted nurser. It has been this way since month 4 or 5, but recently, MUCH worse. Nowadays, even getting 6 minutes is considered a long feed, but it's more like 2-3 minutes, and then he pops off and refuses to get back on. The bad thing is that he definitely makes up for this at night with an extra night feeding. I've resorted to letting him come to me when he's hungry rather than looking at the clock. He does this little whimpering and it's really cute, but at least I now know when HE wants to eat, versus me stressing out about it. He obviously isn't the type that nurses for comfort. LOL. What about you and your LO?

My son is 6 months and the distracted nursing is so annoying! He's always been a quick nurser. used to be 6-8 min and now it's 3-4 minutes. I'm lucky if it's 4 minutes. I think he's making up for it by nursing more in the middle of the night. But what can I do? I can't force him to nurse.

12 weeks, about 15-20 minutes (between both sides)

8.5 months. Sometimes he goes for 20+ minutes (usually right before a nap/bed) and sometimes he goes for as little as 5.

10 weeks and anywhere between 20 - 45 minutes per session. She's not really eating the whole time on the longer sessions but sometimes she likes to chill for a few minutes then eat some more. She likes to take her time!

5 months, I stopped timing a while ago but roughly 15 minutes between the two sides. Longer if DH keeps trying to talk to me and distracting him..! Shorter in the middle of the night when he's down to business and back asleep.

Mine is the opposite. Nurses FOREVER (Can go up to an hour, and they still aren't empty)

7 months and usually between 5-10 minutes. In the nursing session right before bed its usually between 10-15 minutes.

15 weeks and about 5-15 minutes depending on her distractibility. i've given up forcing her even though i hate when she only goes 5 minutes on one side!!

8 weeks and like 10 mins on each side...sometimes a little more, sometimes less. Her pediatrician said an efficient baby can drain a boob in 5-7 mins!

7 weeks, anywhere from 15 mins on each side, too 15 min on each side. At night she will nurse for 20+ min on each side.

P is 12 months & she'll nurse anywhere from just long enough to letdown to 15 minutes depending on the time of day & what's going on. Some nights we nurse very little & others we nurse all night... I see no problem in feeding on demand though & figure that's the way it was designed.

Almost 16 months and it varies around 5-10 minutes a side when awake and only about twice a day. In the early morning it will go way longer, but we are both dozing off too. I'll do anything not to get up in the morning.

11 weeks, and 15-25 minutes per side. And I offer both sides each time. I know (from pumping, now that I'm back to work) that there's plenty in there; I think she just likes to take her time. I've been hoping for her to get more efficient!

6 months and 8 minutes on the first side, 5 min on the 2nd if we're having a very good session. Usually 4-5 min...he's super distracted and pops off constantly. He's been very efficient since about 6 wks though.

8 months and about 5 minutes. She gets to the point, and gets it over with. If it's at night though she will eat, then just suckle because she fell back asleep so then I have to pull her off.

Miss A is six months and will usually feed for between five and fifteen minutes roughly ten times a day. I only offer one breast as she was a complete guts as a newborn and would eat till she threw up!

Almost 9 months. During the day he goes 5, maybe 10 minutes, one side every 3-4 hours. I can hear that he is definitely gulping from let down til when he comes off, so I don't really worry whether he gets enough.
During the night he eats once or twice, probably more like 10-15 min each feed.

DD is almost 15 months and nurses 5-10 minutes on each side (morning and bedtime). I remember when she was younger sometimes nursing was 45-60 minutes!
