LO is going to be 1 next week! We don't read to her as much as I would like...maybe 3-4 times a week. We both love books and we want to encourage her to read!

I started reading to her at a few weeks old, after things calmed down a bit. She's always had a good attention span for it. She is 2.5 now.

We read to LO as much as we can. She is almost 4 months old. Some days I will read to her several times/books a day and some days we miss it because she isn't interested in listening We have over 100 books for her already.

20 months and at least 4 books a day

I read to LO a lot when she was really little and couldn't get away (captive audience). Then when she started getting more mobile, it really tapered off because she wouldn't sit still and wasn't interested.

But she just turned one and I've noticed over the past month she's really getting into books. She has way more patience and will sit quietly while I read to her. She also loves flipping through certain board books. We read many books throughout the day. It makes me so happy! I love to read.

DD (2.5y) has a bunch of books that she looks through/reads. We read to her every night as part of the bedtime routine. We read her one chapter books of a book each night; we're working through the Magic Treehouse series at the moment and have been for pretty much the last year.

@MrsTiz: I'm the same way, I can't wait to teach LO to read!! And I also buy my nieces and nephews books because my SIL doesn't I've been stocking up on clearance kids books at half-price books, it's great!

@Bao: It's a bookstore http://www.hpb.com/stores/ that sells used books at half-off the cover price. It's wonderful! They have bestsellers, hard to find books, movies, video games, etc.

I found a resale store having a sidewalk sale this past summer and bought (no joke) 55 books for 13 dollars. Yeaaaaaaaah. Suffice it to say, my daughter loves her books. No surprise when I have five cases of my own books. She'll just sit there perusing them herself, and then she'll hold up one and say REEEED! So we read to her a ton.

My LO is 20 months old, and absolutely loves books. I slacked in the beginning and didn't start reading to him until he was about 9 months old. At that time we established a bed time routine that included reading 3 books. He has been hooked ever since, and now we read books throughout the day, usually a few every hour. It is amazing to see how they grow with the books over time. Most of his Christmas presents are books, and I know he will love them.

I can't wait to read to my LO! I have already bought a few books and he/she isn't here yet!!

LO is still in utero, but I can't wait to read to him/her when s/he is here!! I've seen baby showers where instead of cards, the guests bring their favorite childhood book. I love this idea, and would love to use it!

We read before bed every night. Usually 3-4 short books. I read to her when we're playing downstairs sometimes, too. She doesn't really get it yet. I'm looking forward to when she wants to hear books or read them herself.

This is definitely a favorite of mine! When I was a nanny I would fill a bag full of books from my moms bookshelf and my nanny dd and I would read for hours and hours on end. It was do fun. I genuinely enjoy reading with kids. I love the little stories.
DS is 10 months and we read daily, usually a few books throughout the day and probably 20 mins of reading before bedtime. He mostly enjoys flipping pages and looking at the pictures.
