I know we're not there yet but I'm curious when you took your child to the movies for the first time (not counting newborns at mommy matinees!)

I don't know... My parents have offered to take DD (2.5) to the movies on several occasions, but I feel like she's still too young. I know my nephew went to the movies from a pretty early age, maybe even under 2? DD has never actually seen a full length film at this point (the biggest stretch for her to date has been about 25 minutes), so I'm not too confident she'd actually behave during 1-2 hour movie. I might let her go at around 4-5 years old, if she shows she can sit still long enough.

My lo is 15 months and still wont sit through more than 2 minutes of tv. I know we have a very, very long time. I think it just depends on the kid though. I have a friend with a lo my daughters age who has already been because he has an older sister and he did fine.

I went to my first movie around age 5--a re-release of 101 Dalmatians! I think it depends on the child and whether or not they can (or want to) sit through a movie. I wouldn't want to pay for movie tickets and then have them not really watch the movie/disturb other people.

DS was almost 2.5 when we saw Winnie the Pooh last year. It was only like 50 minutes long so he did fine (he was actually a little scared of the dark theater). He was quiet and paid attention! DH took him to Madagascar 3 a few weeks after DD was born so after he turned 3. It was a long movie and he was fine.
