Disneyland is local for us but I'm not sure what a good age is! LO is 2.

DS was 3 months away from turning 4. He went again this year at 6. We will be going again once M is 4.

We're planning to take LO to DW but not until she's 4 or 5....want her to remember it!

EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE we're going when Zuma is 6 months! I am so excited and can't stand it. I have been planning cheesy Disney outfits since I found out she was a girl

8 months. We only spent about 5 hours at the park but she loved it! She mostly enjoyed the people watching but we did go on a good amount of rides with her and she seemed pleased

we took olive at 22 months and Charlie was 3 1/2. They both had a blast and Olive was free! It is so expensive. I think 4 is a good age to go though they'll definitely have fun younger.
I was 5 when I first went, and I still remember it!

For us it's not local and can easily turn into a big expense, which we cannot afford until I stop being a SAHM and go back for work.
This is going to sound totally insane, but I have already decided that our first family trip to Disney World will be in the summer of 2020, when L will have just turned 7 and Baby #2 will be about to turn 6. Of course, I won't know for sure until closer to time when I can gauge their temperaments, know their heights, etc. As much as I love Disney World, and as much as I hate going that long between visits, with the $$ we'll be spending I intend to wait until we are at an age where I'm not worrying about strollers, naps, and if they'll be tall enough or old enough for some of my favorite rides. Not that it's an option for us anyways, since like I said, we can't afford it until I go back to work, which won't happen for at least another 3 or 4 years.

I took Liam when he was 17 months, but we got free tickets, so I didn't feel like it was a waste of money. He did have fun, though. He LOVED Dumbo and the carousel.
We are going again on Tuesday (again for free - we have a connection, but it's a secret ) and he's 2 now, so I'm really excited. He watches the video of himself on Dumbo all the time and when I told him we were going back he said, "Fun!"

6 months old. It was excuse for me to do halloween there. We have had an annual pass since he was 18 months old and around 2 he really started to get into it. I would go by height and at least 32 inches to do most stuff.

@mrs. tictactoe: I'm totally intimidated by the sea of strollers! Have fun!
@wonderstruck: Not crazy! Even a local trip is $$$$!

1 week old to a resort/restaurant, about 3 months for Magic Kingdom, 5 months for Epcot.
It helps that DH works at said restaurant
While if I was paying for these visits, I would wait until LO was older, I do think she got a lot out of it. More at Magic Kingdom than Epcot. She LOVEDDD the parade.

@kjpugs: Wait wait wait WHERE DOES YOUR DH WORK?!?! I might be about to become mega-jealous of you, haha.

@autumnlove: haha, it's not that bad... well, it wasn't when we went. I also plan to write a little post about how I organize my stuff to make it easier. Oh and he's potty trained! Oh man, I didn't even think about that... bathroom breaks will be far more frequent and urgent...

@wonderstruck: he works at one of the resort signature restaurants as a cook! Best benefit being able to go when it's not blocked out!

@kjpugs: Aww, adorable pictures!
We haven't taken lo yet and she's 1.5. I think around 2 we will go!

Kids under 3 are free so I think between age 2-3 is a GREAT time I go!

@kjpugs: She is adorable! K loves the parades, too! And talking Mickey- she gets this huge grin when we go see him
We are local, so K has been going since she was 7 months. She LOVES it!
I think going while she's free is a huge part of why we go so often, I'd probably take a LO before 2 even if it involved travel.

haven't gone yet and we're somewhat local. LO is 15 months and I'd definitely like to go while she's still free! i'm thinking this winter. i love it during christmas time!

@T.H.O.U.: Um let's plan that because that would be a blast! When are you do again?! How are you handling a lot of walking? (By 20 weeks I couldn't do the parks but pregnancy also destroyed my hips.)

@mrs. tictactoe: Oooh, I forgot about potty. It might be a good day for pull-ups for my LO!

We went when DS was 10 months. We had fun but if my parents hadn't bought the tickets we would've waited until he was older. I think he'd REALLY enjoy it now and he's 18 months. I'm hoping to take him again when he's between 2 and 3.

@kjpugs: I'm you let us know when and where and we will be there! I'm 20 weeks now but still walking pretty good!

@T.H.O.U.: ok awesome I'll look at block outs in May- maybe then? Gotta get thru this move this month! I'll text you!
Sorry for the threadjack!

I want to go once I graduate! I'm sure we won't be able to afford it at the time though. J will be 5

@mrs. tictactoe: the first time after potty training can be tricky. Just ask between each ride and sometimes force a stop even if he says no. I seriously know where every bathroom is in that park and have probably run with a kid to each one.
We have been going since James was 6 weeks. That trip was more for us but I think they have a great time once they can walk. At 1 Lilly asked to go see Mickey at disneyland so I guess she likes it

Oh and find the baby care centers. They have toddler size toilets without auto flush. Bring post it's to put over the sensors of the auto flush if it scares your kid (not an issue for my kid but a huge thing for my sister)

I'm not sure if we'll ever take our kids (mostly a cost thing and I don't like to travel in general) but DH and I have never been either so if we ever do go it will be the first time for our whole family!

E was 14 months and had a great time. She fell asleep on Pirates, but enjoyed several of the other rides, and loved seeing the parade and the characters. Every time we go we do a character breakfast, which she totally loves, and she gives each character a hug and talks to them.

DD1 was a few months shy of 2 yo on her first trip. She doesn't remember it, but loves seeing the pics now!
We got our annual pass last year when the girls were 5 yo and almost 2 yo. It was definitely more for my eldest, but the little one caught on to everything quick and she loves it and talks about it a lot. I've gone to DL with her alone while her sister was in school and she does great. She's now a few months shy of 3 yo...
I say, take them at least once before they turn 3... at least they are still free Disney is expensive!

We want to take DD to DL when she is 4-5. We've already started setting aside $50/mo in a special bank!

Reviving! I've been thinking about DD's first Disney adventure but can't figure out when to go. It'll be a big trip for us and plan on spending a few nights there (just not IN a Disney hotel, I checked and ouch!). Maybe when she's 4 or 5? I want her to be a big girl and more independent. Hmmmm.
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
It will be a big trip for us too...airfare, tickets, lodging, food, etc. I want to go when DD1 is 5/6 so DD2 will be about almost 3. I went for the first time when I was 18 and I loooves it!
And oh, Disney World!
@SugarplumsMom: I've heard from many DW addicts that it's so worth paying the extra to stay in a DW resort because of all the perks!
We will likely do a weeklong Florida trip. A few days will be beach days!

She was 19 months and we had an amazing time! It is a big trip for us, from Australia, and I am saving to get us back there.
