I think i was 27-28 when i got maam'd at the movie theatre. Mortified!

I loved that on Up All Night!
Being in the south, I don't remember since it's super common. I've had people say it to me a number of times and never really think anything of it (I'm 24).

Don't remember exactly. It is really, really common in the south and not offensive to me at all so I didn't make note of it when it first happened.

Like Mandb36, I am from the south and have heard it for a while (I'm 29). It really doesn't bother me at all since it is so common. I hear it a lot from the bagger at the grocery store.

@mandb36: @highwire: @MrsHotDog: I know people (in the service industry) are doing it to be polite, but i was feeling quite sad that i was approaching 30 and it was a blow to my ego, especially since i look fairly young! I try to ignore it now...i figure pregnancy and having a child have added years to my age!

All the time! Even though I'm not in the south, it seems like a lot of people say it here too (in WI) I don't mind it, I almost find it.....respectful?

I agree, with Highwire, it is definitely a respect thing down here and I don't take it as being old. I have had older folks call me "ma'am".
