16 I think! I failed my test twice because of parallel parking (oops) so maybe I was closer to 17?

@pui: Yay for older drivers! I got mine at 25 (I'm 33)- same reasons, I lived in a city with great transportation and wasn't until I moved in with DH in the burbs that I got mine.
