I was 4. There was no cut-off in Maryland at the time and I had a November birthday.

I was 5, but our cut off was Dec 2, so my July Bday put me right in the middle.

I was 5, my birthday is in March. DS's birthday is in November and our cutoff is 9/1. I hate that he's going to be 6 pretty much that entire year, I wish our cutoff was later. But maybe he'll he'll do better that way, instead of being bored, which I worry about.

@ShootingStar: I was worried about this too - after having pre-K for 2 yrs DS was pretty smart - once in K they pulled him into an advanced reading group and math group - he was never bored - they challenged him everyday
(he turned 6 three weeks after school started)

I was 4. I don't know when the cutoff was, but I'm a mid-September baby!

@Mamaof2: I keep hearing Kindergarten has changed since we were in it. I had a bad start to my schooling years because I went to private preschool and kindergarten and learned to read and do other things and when I went to public first grade, I was so bored. I hated school for years and it really affect my entire school career. I don't want that for DS :(.

I had just turned 5 (late August birthday) but the cut off was Nov 30th I think (may have been Dec 31st) so I wasn't the youngest by far.

I was 5 but turned 6 a few months later. They were really strict about the cutoff date. I was so bored in public school that my parents switched me to private school until 2nd grade because public wouldn't let me skip a year.

I had just turned 5 a couple weeks prior. I went to full day preschool before that. Kinder was half day K and then half day program at old preschool.
As a teacher, I'll be honest, I wish there was more restrictions on both ends of the spectrum.... every year I have students that are a full 2 years apart. It's always so obvious; the youngest and the oldest.

We have JK and I was 4 when I started. DD will have just turned 4 when she starts in a couple of years. We have a Dec 31 cut off where I live and there are lots of 3 year olds in the JK class which seems so young to me.

I had just turned 5, August birthday. Back then, it was still split into morning and afternoon sessions.
