@Mrs. Yoyo: one of my friends was 9 too. she had no idea what was happening! these days girls get their periods much earlier whereas in our generation, 12-13 was the norm. scary that our daughters will be developing so much faster!

I was almost 14! My younger sister got hers before I did, she was 10, I remember being glad it wasn't my turn when she got hers, heh heh

I as 9 years old and in the 4th grade. I had no idea what was going on! My little sister just turned nine in october and she started earlier this month. Insane!

Had just turned 11. My aunt got hers at 9, so my mom warned me about the blood part when I was 7 or 8.

@erinpye: I was 16, as well! My mom had actually taken me to the doctor to make sure I was okay. It had to do with my body weight vs muscle mass and the sports I was playing, I guess.

i was 10 and in 5th grade. i remember getting my first bra and also shaving my legs then. big year!

I was 12, 6th grade. I didn't even tell my mom. I knew where she had pads and I knew what I was supposed to do with them. She saw the wrappers in the garbage and was so sad that I didn't share the moment with her. LOL.

It was the summer before 9th grade - I had just turned 14. It was terrible because it was the day I was going to a water park with a bunch of friends!!

I was 13. It was the summer between 7th and 8th grade. When I discovered it I had just woken up. I did a double take to make sure I wasn't dreaming.

@Rubies: I was twelve and did the same thing. I have a sister so she actually didn't figure it out for a while. And then she did exactly what I was trying to avoid- told everyone!

same as @nycalimama -- 10 years old and a few month shy from being 11. It was the summer before 6th grade, and I'm pretty sure I was the first among my friends to start my period.

I was 12 and in 7th grade. My mom was traveling for work so I had to figure out how to use tampons by myself since I was taking scuba diving lessons and couldn't miss class.

I was kind of late compared to my friends. I started the summer before freshman year, so I was 14. I remember always wanting to start, since all my friends already had, but once it happened I wondered what I was thinking!
