I have my first cold (sore throat, congestion, etc) and I am exhausted! DH has to work so I need to care for LO. I can manage, but seriously how do people care for kiddos when they are sick?! It really makes it worse since you can't get much rest.

It really is the worst thing! Those days I just try to not worry about any chores, don't stress about being a good parent (pop in a movie for the LO), and try to rest and relax as much as possible.

I recently had strep and DH had to work AND DS was gone at my moms so I was all alone in caring for P.
She spent quite a bit of time in her bouncer that day watching TV & I rested on the couch. I nursed her laying down & tried to sleep with her so that she'd take longer naps... of course the one good nap she took my high fever came back and I wasn't able to sleep! UGH. It was seriously the worse week of my life but P didn't get sick & she got way more tv time than usual... it was all about survival! lol

@Bao: struggle. That's all. Just struggle through it. I don't think I talked to her for three days during my last cold because my throat hurt so badly. Just get through each day...that's all I can suggest. Then, once you're healthy again, you'll feel like this whole parenting thing is so EASY!! Haha. Feel better soon!!!!

@Bao: Oh no! In that case make sure she gets some tylenol if she needs it.
Sometimes I love when my LO and I aren't feeling well because we cuddle up on the couch and nurse for hours.

We did a lot of laying down nursing and napping together. Drink tons of OJ and try warming socks at night to help fight the cold off.

@Bao: Like the others have said, just struggle through it. Every time I get a cold, I start taking Zicam (spray) religiously and it makes a big difference. I hope you start feeling better soon.

@Bao: Has she had them already? If not maybe reschedule the appt.... I know some pedi's prefer to wait until after sickness to vax and if you're sick it may be best to wait to make sure she doesn't catch whatever you have. If she already got them then yes, do medicate her so she can be comfy and hopefully she'll sleep lots.
