My DD has her 2 front bottom teeth just popped through now & I was just wondering what most people do to brush them? We had been using just a small washcloth up until this point but now I am not sure. I know they sell the spiffies, finger tooth brushes, small regular toothbrushes, baby toothpaste that you can swallow, etc but what do you use? How often do you brush their teeth?

I just use a finger brush and brush her teeth and gums. I started off using the Earth's best toothpaste that came along with it, but got a pamphlet from my pediatrician that said I shouldn't use toothpaste until my LO learns to spit the toothpaste out.
The pamphlet also said that I didn't have to take my LO to a baby dentist til she turns 2!
I brush her teeth daily. Sometimes I forget though.
She has 6 teeth!

We have a cousin that works in a pediatric dental office, she said just wiping their teeth off with water and gauze will do the trick. We asked her a while back since LO has had 8 teeth for some time now.

@chopsuey119: Does she like the finger brush? We have one that someone gave us at my baby shower but I haven't tried it yet. Good to know about the toothpaste, thanks!
@Boogs: I wouldn't have thought about using gauze! does your LO do well with it?

RJ got his first teeth super early (3 months!) so we've been brushing his teeth since the beginning. At first just a baby toothbrush with water (he never took to the finger brushes) and then using the infant toothpaste (no flouride, safe to swallow). He goes back and forth with letting us brush them.

No teeth yet so I have no advice, but yay for baby teeth!

We used the finger brush and toothpaste (no fluoride) once she got her first teeth (8 months). We brushed morning and night. The dentist I saw said to use toothpaste. He said to brush after every feeding AND floss but who really does that?
She has 6 teeth!
