@CakeLady: Lol!! I have a combo of rod and twister. It drives me crazy! I usually end up giving her something to eat to distract her as I wrestle her in.
@AggieDaze: My stern voice doesn't work on my DD either. She's either unfazed or she laughs at me! I really need to work on being stern and authoritative.

@BeachMama: First, I find it crazy that the teachers didn't have her get ready to leave. DS1 used to throw tantrums about leaving places. It is easier for us to avoid the tantrum or get him calmed before attempting the car seat. In your situation I would have gotten the baby in and then tried to comfort the older one. Usually my guy calms down with some hugs and reassuring him that he can go back to play soon and telling him about something else fun that we have planned. Then sometimes bribing with a snack or one of his favorite car toys to get in the seat.

@skipra: yeah that's what annoyed me. It was a chilly day so instead of playing outside they were playing inside. she had an Elsa dress on that's he refused to take off to come home. I had to put the baby sitting on the floor to chase her around to get it off. They could've at least chimed in "Evelyn it's time to take the Elsa dress off and go home" but they pretty much just sat there talking to each other. Her main teacher would've helped me but these two girls are younger and just don't get it.

@Mrs D: @HabesBabe: I genuinely give props to any parents who stick to their guns as far as not bribing or using force with their kid but this one of the few situations that gets me into a cold sweat so freaking fast so I just do what I have to do!

@BeachMama: Yeah, that isn't really acceptable, especially if the 8 mo also attends there. At an absolute bare minimum they should have offered to hold the baby or remove the dress. As another parent picking up I would have offered to hold baby! Maybe a brief word with the director about a refresher for the teachers on end of day responsibilities?

I use physical force to get him in if he really fights me. Usually counting to three and offering to let him snap the chest clip go a long way, but he has his days for sure.
