I have two LOs who are in daycare while I work FT. I will probably stay at home (or work PT...if possible) when we have a 3rd LO.

I have one Lo now and sah. Will continue if/when we have another.

Hopefully our in-home daycare can take her or we'll put E in a center and keep #2 in our in-home.

I don't think we will have another LO until my parents are in town and can help with child care. I guess technically we could put another LO in daycare and get by, but I don't think we'd want to stretch things that tight.

If we have another, that would mean DD will be in daycare while I'll be at home with the new baby. Daycare isn't available until age 1 here, so a new baby always means being home bound for at least a year. It's not a complaint, just the reality.
If we're crazy enough to go for it, then I'm making DH stay home with me for a heck of a lot longer than he did the first time around. His company has really great paternity leave bonuses that he didn't take advantage of before.
But I honestly doubt it's gonna happen. I'm starting to feel old (as opposed to just being old) and we're getting too comfy having a minute to ourselves again.

@SugarplumsMom: You aren't old! I think I'm a year behind!

@sugarplums: Daycare isn't available until age 1 in your area? Where are you?

I'd have to hire a full-time nanny again if we had a third. That would be a lot of money!

Wouldn't change! If we had 3, then I would stay home, but for 2? Still worth it for me to work.

Well, that's a good question! We have no idea if we can afford to have two at daycare, or if we will change to a nanny, or if I will SAH for a few years. We have to figure it out soon if we want to TTC #2 sometime next year.

I think we'll probably go back to a nanny when we have #2. I cannot handle getting 2 out the door by myself (usually) and even worse, having 2 getting sick and then getting the other one sick- NIGHTMARE! H has only been in daycare for a week and a half and the perpetual runny nose that she got literally on the first day caused her to have an ear infection (which made itself known with a 102 fever yesterday and today) , AND she has a red throat, and today a loose cough showed up. I have to keep her home tomorrow (on the 2nd week of my brand new job!), and I have briefly doubted my decision to put her in daycare at all. But I really think the socialization is good for her at this age. So we're trying to find a nanny for 2 days a week and just put her in daycare so she can socialize the other 3 days. With another LO (or 2 more!), they can socialize amongst themselves, so no need to take a dip in the germ pool every day! We'll get a nanny!

I don't think it would change for two, but if we had a third I guess it would depend on whether L was in school yet or not.

It wouldn't change for 2. But when we have 3, I will work part time and put them in daycare part time. We will have all our debt paid off and most of our house, so DH said I can do whatever I want.

I have no idea! Right now DH and I have different work schedules and then our moms help out 3-4 days a week. Team Grandma is getting older though, and I don't know if either of them could really handle two at once!

It would stay the same... SAHM til the youngest can go to pre-K. Perhaps work PT after that!

No change- we already juggle child care between the two of us as it is, while adding another will add stress and keep us busier, I don't plan on changing my part-time work schedule.

@SugarplumsMom: same here, daycare is very scarce for babies under 1 since women have a year of maternity leave. I think we will try to hire a part time nanny when the baby is around 6 months. Ds will continue to go to his regular daycare.

I really don't know! One of us would probably reduce hours to at least part time if we had a second child.

Preschools in our area start at 2, and are SO much cheaper than daycares. We'll make sure our second isn't born until #1 is 2, so we'll only have one daycare bill at a time.

Our two are in daycare right now, but if we had another one, I would either stay home or we would have to look into a nanny.

Ours won't change. MIL decided not to go back to work and help me with LO #2 instead I feel super grateful! We couldn't have afforded any other childcare

We are about to have #2. Our first has been in daycare. He will be 20 months when number 2 comes along. I really wanted to get a nanny and send LO#1 to preschool part-time, but its just too $ so they will both be doing daycare. I don't want my near 2 year old to miss out on the socialization/activities that he's used to!
