Warning: long post and includes venting.

First, some background. My older siblings have children, but they are all in school now. My LO is the first baby in almost 6 years. I am very different from my family and how they raised their children, and they do not grasp why I am strict about LO's schedule and sleep times. We've just agreed to all disagree and I'm the one who deals with him at home so I try to stick to my guns.

My mom keeps my LO 2 days a week when I work. We gave them his infant carseat that can only be installed rear facing and demonstrated how to install the base in their car. She rarely leaves the house with my son so we figured it would work well for them. Today when I stopped by her house to pick up LO, I noticed a carseat in her car...and it's not the one we gave them! It was also installed forward facing.

I want to go nuclear about this, but in my parents case I get a lot of, "That's nice you think that way." I don't want to remove LO from her care either or threaten her with that possibility, but I want LO rear facing. I have repeated over and over how we want to rear face until 2 years and cite the safety issues, and have told her our pediatrician recommended it.

Any advice wold be appreciated on how to get my point across.
