I was at the post office today, waiting in a LONG line. My car was in a non parking zone and I had my hazards on so you can imagine I was antsy to get out of there with LO.

The woman in line in front of me started grumbling to whoever would listen. She went on and on about how all the windows were filled and yet there still was such a long wait. Of course, me being right behind her, she decided to direct most of her comments and complaints to me....

I thought she would quit after a minute or two but she was literally going on and on. I would just smile, nod but not offer too much back. (I really wasn't in the mood to talk and I have several friend's mother's who work for the post office so, although I was frustrated myself, I wasn't going to get into a conversation about it with a stranger).

Then came the part that I didn't appreciate. The lady saw my son with my iphone and started talking to him. He's only 2 and was preoccupied but she kept going back and addressing him about how he could probably run the post office himself, man a window, how he's more advanced in technology than the people working there, etc etc. And then she kept trying to touch him. It was rubbing me the wrong way because 1) she wouldn't stop and 2) she was in a bad mood. I don't think i would have had much of a problem with it if she was just saying something lighthearted like he was wearing something cute ...

I didn't say anything but was thinking in my head the appropriate thing to do. I wanted to tell her not to touch him...but then that might have turned into something ugly...I don't know...

what would you have done?
