For DD's birthday, we invited a few close friends over for cake (3 families with 4 kids total, and an unmarried friend with no kids who is basically like an uncle to all the kids). Friend with no kids emailed to say he would be out of town but would try to get back in time. Okay, no problem. Today he texts to say that the buddy he's going out of town with wants to know if he can bring his 2 children to DD's "party" because they're moving and his wife will be home packing and it would be convenient to get the kids out of the house. Although I've heard a lot about this friend over the years, I have never met him or his kids. It's just such a weird thing. I feel like I should be cool and say "no problem," but I know DH will be like WTH and probably not very happy about it. Am I wrong to want to say no? Is there a polite way to say no? I'm just so surprised my friend even asked this that I don't know what to say.
