What is the youngest you would feel comfortable taking a cross country trip with an infant? Also, a toddler would be with you.

We are potentially looking at a trip to check out a possible location move for DH's job and they would fly the family out and put us up somewhere to get a feel for the area. Which, last year, would have been awesome, but I'm due with our second baby in mid December. So I am thinking of the earliest we could comfortably do it.

I realize people fly with days old babies when they have to, but for an optional trip, how early would you want to? I'm thinking at least 2 months? She'd have some shots by then at least. And that would be towards the end of winter here- great to go someplace warm, but also prime cold and flu season. Toddler would be 2.5 then, we'd be flying together and I would insist they pay for a seat for the baby. Possibly MIL could join us for part of the trip to help while dh has to work.

I won't even get into the stress that the idea of moving cross country with a toddler and infant is causing me!
