Haha when I needed to pick up pregnancy tests, there was only one drugstore I would go in because I didn't know anyone there. DH's aunt, a few friends from high school, people that know my mom, etc all work at my "usual" drugstore, so I felt like I had to be all sneaky about it. Life in a small town...

I usually buy prenatals or something with the hpt to make it clear I'm hoping for a positive not a negative : )

haha. once when i was much younger, i was buying one and the pharmacist said, 'so, what are we hoping? a positive or a negative?' ummm..... whoa buddy, NOYB! really i just said 'it's good to know either way.' because i didn't really know what to say to him. maybe go somewhere with a self checkout line, avoid the awkward moment =D or just order on amazon

I felt awkward every single time even though I was married with a wedding ring on and obviously an adult lol. I don’t even like walking around the store with them in my hands! I may have made my sister buy me one once or twice….

@mrs. bird: Someone said that to me too!! I just smiled and got out of there. What a thing to ask!

The first cycle, I checked out via self checkout. The second cycle I bought them online.

I tend to use self checkout. I feel so awkward otherwise!

I'm always a little embarrassed, but I get all defensive, like, what do I have to be embarrassed about, a-hole?? Even though no one has ever said anything to me, I'm ready for a fight for some reason. Now I get them at the dollar store and most of the cashiers don't seem to speak English, but it's also near work. which could be bad.
Along the same lines... I've never bought condoms. I always make H do it. Yet, I had no problem picking up my birth control from the pharmacy. Stupid contradictory nonsense...

I usually order online in bulk, but I ran out this past cycle. We have a crazy small town, and I knew that if I tried to hide it. I would run into someone I knew. So I just marched right up to the cash and dropped them on the counter - no shame!

@MrsCastro: Hahaha. When I went to go pregnancy test shopping last, the girl was like, "Uh-oh. Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Did someone slip up?" And I said "It'll be a good thing if it's positive!" And she goes on to tell me how she recently was 2 mo late and had a pregnancy scare and blah blah blah.. I was cracking up. it amazes me how comfortable people are with random strangers!

@Foodnerd81: I have bought condoms before and I am just as embarrassed.
So I stopped by a CVS cruised up and down the aisle about 5 times. Grabbed a basket that could fit 20 watermelons ran to the pharmacy and there was a guy cashier and turned around and went to the front register. I was finally able to breath when I got to the car.

@dharmainitiative: I would die if anybody said anything to me. My worst nightmare is that they get on the loud speaker and ask for a price check. Maybe I would pretend I didn't speak English "no hablo ingles". LOL.

@MrsCastro: LMAO!!!!!! That's too funny. I used to work behind the register and what would get me is when men would come in and buy pregnancy tests. It's like they have a stamp on their head with, "Shoot me. Here." I could tell they hated their life!!!!! LOL

I had a cashier asked me excitedly, "Are you hoping for a positive or negative?" Awkward.
I also try to flash my ring and act cool, but hello?!? It's not like I look like a 16-year old in trouble. Glad to know I'm not the only ridiculous one!

I bought lightbulbs with mine! And the cashier very carefully put them in the bag in the middle of the lightbulbs so that they couldn't be seen

It's so funny reading all your comments. It never crossed my mind that it was awkward. But you are totally right. I guess I was lucky the cashiers never said anything - especially when I was buying a few boxes.

I had a young male cashier say to me "Good luck with that!" as if I was hoping for a negative. I look pretty young (even though I'm 34!) so I do try to flash the wedding ring, too! I'm also a big fan of self-checkout at the grocery store. FRERs are actually less expensive at our grocery store than our drugstore - added bonus!

Hehehe, I'm the same way! We went to HEB the other day so I could see how much their ovulation predictors were, and I made my husband wander around with me until there was no one left in the aisle. I don't know why it's so embarrassing! I'm married! I have to go to the dollar store to buy some pregnancy tests this weekend, and I'm already dreading it. Good grief!

Ha ha! I'm definitely worried about somebody I know seeing me! I've gone to the self check out before so I don't have to deal with a cashier (especially if it's the only thing I'm buying!)

@GreenThumb: haha I like the self checkout, too! I once left the store because the HPTs were in plastic cases that only the cashiers could unlock, LOL! I buy them on Amazon (prime) now.

I once stopped to get an HPT after being at the gym and I didn't have my rings on and I totally felt like the cashier was judging me! Another time, the cashier asked me if I was hoping for a positive or a negative...um hello, NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS.
