Anyone want to join my online hurricane party? I'm stuck with a 2.5 week old baby and mastitis. Thankfully schools and offices closed so DH is home with the older two.
Just praying we don't have a tree down on our house or loose power for too long.
Anyone else preparing? Any good hurricane tips for kids?

I'm slightly worried if it comes inland. This is a picture from our deck. I have a feeling that creek bed can fill up fast with 3-5" rain.

Ugh, I live in Nola and was just so glad our area isn't going to get more rain but I'm sorry y'all are affected. I hope it isn't very strong and moves through quickly.

We're in New England so I shouldn't even be worrying about this except that we planned Labor Day in Nantucket and now I don't know if it is going to rain and storm the entire time we are there. Not a great time to visit a tiny island while pregnant, with a toddler, no car, and nothing to do all weekend stuck inside (plus the ferry rides are going to be interesting).

Hope they have one heck of a sturdy tent to put up for the reception!

@mrsjd: I'm with you! As sorry as I am Florida is dealing with the storm I can't even imagine dealing with it here in Louisana. There's already so much debris and trash everywhere on the roadside I can only imagine what extra wind would do to all of it.

@Miss Ariel: Given that we are in New Orleans we were very fortunate to escape damage, but I saw your story and I'm so so very sorry at the loss you and your family experienced. I'm not from LA but we've had several coworkers impacted and it's tough stuff.

@mediagirl: I know you just bought the house, so I'm picking your brain on home buying. Would an inspector noticed if there were any signs flooding? Could you ask a neighbor how far the water might come up? Hope your house stays safe!

@catlady: Same. He are flying to NJ tomorrow to spend LBW wth our BFFs in Wildwood. It seems it's gonna rain most of Saturday and Sunday but I hope there isn't any flooding. I'm definitively gonna stop to grab some food in case we are stuck inside.

@bluestriped bee: yeah. Thankfully the neighbor said the water has never come up to the bodies, even during Fran. Phew! Still, there's been a lot of building since then so who knows what will happen!

@T.H.O.U.: Thanks for starting the party! I'm in Savannah and Hermine is headed our way. Reports are confusing about when it will hit here. I've read both 3 am and 2 pm tomorrow.
I'm a bit keyed up and just a little pregnant (almost 36w) so those two things play into each other for sure. We moved from the west coast and so we are used to earthquake country, not hurricane country! Everyone around us is super laid back and say "it's just a Category 1!" Then why are all the schools and public offices closed?!
DH says I should stay home... I just didn't prepare my day for working from home so I guess I will see what it looks like tomorrow morning! I'm hoping DH stays home because his job is a lot farther from home and it would worry me if he got stuck and couldn't come back, you know...

It's 5 am here and the main storm is past us and into GA now. Moving about 14 mph. Always thankful when it doesn't stall.
We lost power around 11 pm. I have a freezer full of post partum freezer meals I really don't want to loose.
My oldest daughter woke up in darkness and was screaming that she was trapped. Poor thing couldn't find the door to get out of her room.

@T.H.O.U.: Glad it's passed you now! It's been raining on and off all night, but definitely storming hard now. DH left for work (gulp!) which is south of here and toward the eye.

Daylight.
Lots of branches down. One large pine tree took out the swing set. Thankfully it fell that way instead of toward the back of the house.

We lost power at 9 last night came back at 3am so we could get a bit of comfortable sleep. Its out again now as of 8 am with an ETA of 5pm restoration 
I am at work and DD is at school but DH is home with DS.

No power here either! Lots of branches down and the worst hasn't passed yet apparently. @T.H.O.U.: @pinkb: Hope the power comes back for all of us soon!

@Amorini: @pinkb: over 80,000 residents without power. They are just now clearing roads. Estimates are saying it could be days
Thankfully the inside temp isn't terrible with it being overcast.

We got power back! I'm so grateful. Hope you ladies get power back soon! And hoping that it doesn't get too ugly for folks up the coast.
This was a good practice hurricane for us...well, it was a tropical storm by the time it arrived in our area. I have a mental list for what to prepare for next time.
Now it's time (for DH) to clean up the yard!

Hope everyone is staying safe! I think the worst of it has passed here. No major issues but we somehow had water blow in from the side ridges into our attic to slightly stain our bedroom ceiling. I honestly don't even know what kind of service contractor to call for that issue!!! Could be worse, but darn!

@T.H.O.U.: oh sheesh! Sorry to hear that, but glad that you have somewhere to go.
@babypugs: Wild that the water came in that way. Sorry to hear about the water damage. I'd probably start by calling a roofer and getting them to refer to the right contractor(s).

@babypugs: wow that's crazy! Glad minimal damage though.
They are saying it will take a week to get 90% of the issues resolved. Very thankful the three kids are sleeping in the car on my way to the parents.
