My 16 week old just qualified for EI and occupational therapy for hypertonia. Mainly in the arms and trunk, and she likes to keep her hands closed in a fist with the thumb tucked. The evaluator gave me the impression that the therapy will prevent further delays and thinks it will help with things like rolling over (she curls her torso and keeps her arms straight which prevents her from rolling even though she is trying) and later on with things like sitting up and crawling.
I'm freaking OUT because I googled it and all that comes up is cerebral palsy. (I knew I shouldn't have googled it) I don't even know what questions to ask my doctor about this. She has had a bunch of really small issues throughout pregnancy and the first couple of months which all seemed to work out, so I guess I wasn't really expecting this. Anyone else have experience with a hypertonic baby?
